Can God use a tornado?

Lutheran steeple

Wednesday, while Lutherans were meeting at the Minneapolis Convention Center to discuss the issue of homosexuality within their denomination, a tornado struck and “severely damaged the convention center roof, shredded the tents, broke off the steeple of Central Lutheran, split what’s left of the steeple in two…and then lifted.”

A pastor in the Minneapolis/St Paul area has “ventured an interpretation of this Providence with some biblical warrant” suggesting…

Our storm

Well, to update everyone on “the baby project”, sadly there are still no real updates to report.

Laurie does have another great post over on her blog (which inspired this one), that touches on many of things we’re thinking about/struggling through.

I did have the unique experience of getting to have a test of my own last week at the doctor’s office.

Been chewing on this idea and quote from Shane Claiborne’s book “The Irresistible Revolution”

Buy our house video podcast (episode 1)

Thought we’d try a little short “video podcast” to highlight some of the great things about our house. We’ll try and post one at least once a week until the house sells (so in reality, we hope this will be our only one).

I shot this on my Blackberry Curve 8900 last night and pieced it together a little later. Its just a quick easy video podcast that will hopefully draw some more attention to our house.

But to begin with, we would love your advice on how to better stage our dining room. Watch the short video and then share your thoughts in the comment section below or via e-mail: house (at) casadeblundell (dot) com.

Find out more here.

Let us know what you think – both about the question we raise in the video – and about the video podcast idea.

In Act 1, they tell the story of Geoffrey Canada and the Harlem Children’s Zone.

From the show…

Paul Tough reports on the Harlem Children’s Zone, and its CEO and president, Geoffrey Canada. Among the project’s many facets is Baby College, an 8-week program where young parents and parents-to-be learn how to help their children get the education they need to be successful. Tough’s just-published book about Geoffrey Canada and the Harlem’s Children Zone is called Whatever It Takes.

After he started raising his second son and saw all the science showing the best practices for raising and developing a child in their early years, Geoffrey decided to go big and make a huge impact on the streets of Harlem. As he learned the best practices, he went looking for people putting the ideas into practice in Harlem — and found none.
