#myfavoritebiblestory

Not sure who started it, or where it came from, but found out about the #myfavoritebiblestory Twitter meme last night at dinner.

The basic gist of it is “What’s your favorite Bible story” but complete with irony and sarcasm.

What’s really interesting is to see how folks have responded. While many of the tweets have come from one or two people, they’ve been retweeted and added to by a number of folks. And I would say the irony of these stories highlight some of the real issues people have with the Church and Christianity today.

So the question is, do we ignore it by calling it offensive, or do we start working to fix it?

Hope no one takes offense, but these are some of my favorites….

A Monday morn challenge to my peeps.

Write a haiku describing your faith/or lack thereof.

A Haiku is a simple form of poetry, with only 17 syllables in three lines. The lines are made up of 5, 7 and 5 syllables respectively.

Buy our house video podcast (episode 2)

Well, I’m not sure our first episode of “Buy our house” should be considered a “success.”

We had 18 views on YouTube and 22 views on Vimeo (plus however many viewed it on Facebook).

Laundry Love efforts this week

Laundry Love People

Thanks again to everyone for your continued support of our Laundry Love efforts.

This week is a great week for Laundry Love People in the Dallas area!

On Sunday afternoon, our friends in Waxahachie launched their first Laundry Love effort and I saw this update via Facebook:

Our laundry of love started off slow but after 5 pm we were able to help between 5-10 families with their laundry. It was really awesome watching Austin and Elizabeth meeting people they did not know and offering help.

On Thursday evening, more Laundry Love People will come together and launch a new effort in Mesquite (on Galloway near the hospital).

And on Saturday, we’ll be back in Glenn Heights for our 4th gathering at our normal laundromat! Can’t wait!

Customize Disqus WordPress plugin with CSS

I’ve recently added the Disqus plugin to two of my WordPress blogs/sites – encounterthis.com/blog and somethingbeautifulpodcast.com.

I did a lot of searching and saw suggestions to add a Javascript command to the header file, create an entirely separate CSS file and more. None of them seemed to work for me. I just wanted an easy/non-Java option.

John Mackey, the founder of Whole Foods (Austin based grocery store) has stirred some folks up with his recent Wall Street Journal article.

While I don’t know the ins and outs of the business/money side of things I think he could be on to something (Spamboy has a great expansion on Mackey’s ideas).
