Top 21 Albums of my Youth

Jonathan and Matt (6th or 7th grade)

The Search shared a great list of the top CCM albums of the 1990’s today. I think I owned every album on the list at one point or another — some of them I still have.

It got me thinking back to my own youth… primarily the 1990’s and the music I listened to. It was primarily a mix of CCM, Rock, Country and a few others thrown in. So without further ado, here are the Top 21 Albums of my Youth… (ranked primarily in order of how much time they spent in my single disk CD player)

This week’s earworm :: Window in the skies

U2 - Window in the Skies

I’m not sure when I actually heard it last, but U2’s Window in the Skies has been playing in my head a lot lately.

Such a beautiful song and video…

Coy Christensen at White Rock Coffee

Coy Christensen

After a full weekend, I joined a few friends and family to hear our friend Coy Christensen play a gig at White Rock Coffee last night in Dallas.

Coy did a great job, playing an hour long set, primarily of his own songs, but throwing in a few covers from Jon Foreman, Shaded Red, John Mark McMillan and When In Rome as well.

CWF Celebrates 10 years

Saturday night I had the privilege to take part in the Christian Wrestling Federation’s 10 year anniversary show.

It was a great night with some great matches from CWF Alumni as well as the CWF future — including a 12 man Battle Royal.

For those who are new to the blog, I first found out about the CWF only a few months after it began (in May 2000).

And I went to my first CWF show in Georgetown, Texas in the Fall of 2000 after hearing about it from a fellow journalism student, Chris Allman (aka Chris Idol/Angel).

Several years later, I joined up with the CWF and served as the ring announcer and commissioner from 2005-2007.

It was a great time in my life, full of great memories and great relationships that I made while travelling from place to place with the guys — even more so with the late night trips Chris and I made from Belton to Rockwall (and back) that first year.

So Saturday night was a great time to remember some of those memories and a chance to see the work continue.

Rob (Jesus Freak) asked me to put together a slide show and highlight video to show Saturday night, so here they are in all their glory ::

You can find out more about the CWF through my archives, or visit www.christianwrestling.com (which I still manage). I also chatted with Chris a month or so back for the podcast and he talks about his history with the CWF along the way.

A Florida Outpouring

Roy W. Petersen

This week, Thomas chats with Roy W. Petersen on the podcast, who shares about his life and his passion for film.

He’s working on the final bits of a new documentary, Florida Outpouring, about the recent Lakeland Revivals in Florida.

Here’s the full trailer:

Looking forward to seeing it.

While there’s been a lot of criticism and hatred directed towards the Lakeland Revival, I love Roy and Thomas’ posture in talking about the revival as well. They both take a humble approach in examining what took place in Florida. Definitely worth a listen.

And huge props to Thomas for another great interview!
