Wetoku – video interviews on the cheap
Just found out about wetoku.com, via @charlestlee.
Its a simple video chat service (similar to TokBox), but geared specifically towards bloggers wanting to do video interviews and RECORD THEM!
I signed up for an invite today and got a response almost instantly.
I tried it out here at the office to see how easy and practical it might be to use – and it turns out its both of those.
I did a short chat with Jim Gray (@beaconhillnw). He was chatting from a coffee shop and we had a really bad delay. Not sure if it was my end, his end or where, but it wasn’t the best of qualities for sure.
And then I did a followup interview/chat with Aaron Aiken (@aaronaiken) from TrimTab Creative.
This interview had a much higher quality and connection and probably shows more of what the service can actually do.

I did both of these with my basic Logitech webcam, using the built in microphone. So the audio and video wasn’t the best of the best, but it gets the job done.
I’m thinking with a good connection, this could be a great addition to the something beautiful podcast and/or any number of practical uses.
What could you use something like this for?
*p.s. :: I need to get more used to actually looking at the video camera throughout the interview, rather than looking down at my screen and their video. It looks funny if I’m looking down the entire time.
