Jerry’s not happy with WFAA and Cynthia Izaguirre

So, as previously mentioned, a post I wrote back in Jan. 2008 about WFAA morning anchor Justin Farmer leaving continues to get a lot of visits and comments.

But I’ve come to realize something over and over again now.

One guy in particular is apparently not happy at all with new morning anchor Cynthia Izaguirre and he’s sharing his 3 thoughts all over Dallas blogs.

As of the last count, he’s posted 8 or 9 comments on my blog. He’s copied three of the comments on two separate posts. I did a quick Google search for one phrase he’s used — and as it turns out, it’s not just my blog he’s copying and pasting to.

Looks like he’s also hit up Frontburner on a couple occasions as well as Dallasismyhome.com.

I wonder if he had his heart broken, or is just two busy to write original comments for all the different blogs.

Hmmm. Oh well. Makes those “Obama hates everyone” e-mails seem that much less surprising.

3 hours a day

Read an interesting stat today. Most Americans watch an average of 3 hours of television per day. Over a year, that’s more than 45 days of television watching! Crazy!

So turning off the television instantly would instantly give you an extra 45 days a year to do other things you enjoy – like reading, playing softball, frisbee or just spending time with your family.

Of course there are other ways to consider this stat – if you having trouble finding time for things you want to do – realize that by spending just 3 hours a day working on it – you’d gain 45 days a year to focus on that one thing.

Want to learn a new language? 45 days a year would probably make a huge difference? Want to spend more time reading? 45 days would be a huge improvement.

What will you change to gain 45 days of your life back? Or what will you spend 45 days of your life doing this year?

Switch off that television

This video is making it’s rounds around the Interweb. I’ve seen it on 3 or 4 sites now but saw it first on Thomas’ blog a day or two ago. Everyone’s had some great opinions on it. I personally like Thomas’ best – maybe cause we’re looking at things in a similar way.

I’ll try not to steal his thunder. Watch the video and then read his post for sure. But here are just a couple highlights:

From the video:

Media that’s targeted at you but doesn’t include you may not be worth sitting still for.

Thomas writes:

The way Clay expresses it is basically… the new media (blogging/wikipedia/youtube etc) = consuming + producing + sharing > this is a shift from the old media that only expects you to consume.

People are watching less television and are doing something… making something happen… like just now as I create this post. It reminds me of the old Why don’t you? motto :: Why Don’t You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go and Do Something Less Boring Instead? :: kind of ironic, I know… but its real… and its now!

I have some great friends who chose not to purchase a TV for the first couple years of their marriage. They only had a small Commodore monitor hooked up to a VCR for watching movies. They finally gave in though when Tim needed his Texas Rangers fix and probably didn’t help that their girls were getting older – but I wonder how different our lives would be if we all stopped simply consuming television on a daily basis….

What’s so (bleeping) funny?

All Things Considered had a great story yesterday on the (bleeping) television industry.
Quite funny.

From NPR:

TV shows have been bleeping profanity for years when people speak extemporaneously. In recent years, however, scripted shows have been writing profanity in. The actors say the forbidden words and then the words are bleeped out for comedic effect.
