UMHB lost their first game of the year against UW-Whitewater, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year.
It was a big lost, 41-14.
But while UMHB lost, Trinity (in San Antonio) won their game with an amazing play with just 2 seconds remaining. They used 15 laterals to run down the field and score their winning TD. Amazing.

HUCKABEE PASSES ROMNEY!
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows—for the first time ever–Mike Huckabee moving into the top four among those seeking the Republican Presidential Nomination.
And just think, I doubt he’s received half the money that the leading candidates have spent.
Rudy Giuliani remains precariously atop the pack with support from 20% of Likely Republican Primary Voters nationwide. Fred Thompson is close behind at 19% while John McCain enjoys a second straight day in third place with 14% of the vote. Huckabee continues to gain ground and is just two points behind McCain at 12%. This is the first time all year that Huckabee has surpassed Mitt Romney. The former Massachusetts Governor slipped another point and he is now at just 11% nationally. No other Republican attracts more than 3% support while 18% are undecided.
Prayer for Erin
From e-mail:
Dear Friends,
Last Tuesday evening, there was an armed robbery on the compound across the street from where I live. Three single women missionaries were in the apartment and one of them was injured. I have been attending to her, medically, and as her friend.
This has been a traumatic event and we need your prayers.
For me, please pray
– that I will take all thoughts captive – holding only onto Truth
– that I will not be fearful of Nigerians
– that my parents will trust God to protect me
– to be able to fall asleep at night
– my lung is hurting again and my cough has returned – this was to be expected, as my disease will flare up when my immune system weakens (due to stress, this time).
Seven of our boys have been sick this week and it has been a blessing to focus on loving and caring for them. These children are why God brought me here and they are why I will stay.
As I flipped open the Bible a couple nights ago – God opened the pages to this familiar and comforting verse:
‘ For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.’ Isaiah 55:8 & 9
Holding onto Him,

There’s just something about His name
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
There’s just something about that name
Master, Savior, Jesus
Like the fragrance after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away
But there’s something about that name.

CWF pics from Nigeria
I’m uploading pictures from the CWF trip to Nigeria this month. I’m posting all that I can on Flickr and then I’ll go back and add some to the CWF website as well.
What’s so (bleeping) funny?
All Things Considered had a great story yesterday on the (bleeping) television industry.
Quite funny.
From NPR:
TV shows have been bleeping profanity for years when people speak extemporaneously. In recent years, however, scripted shows have been writing profanity in. The actors say the forbidden words and then the words are bleeped out for comedic effect.
