Huckabee signs immigration pledge

I’m disappointed in this…

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has become the first presidential candidate to sign the “No Amnesty” pledge from NumbersUSA, a self-proclaimed “immigration-reduction organization” and Americans for Better Immigration. The pledge calls for no “amnesty or any other special path to citizenship for the millions of the foreign nationals unlawfully present in the United States.”

Huckabee, who had been hammered by conservatives for his “liberal’ stands on immigration when he was in office, has taken more anti-immigration positions since the fall. He signed the pledge during a visit to the small Christian college of North Greenville University.

If we offer “no amnesty or any other special path to citizenship for the millions of the foreign nationals unlawfully present in the United States” are we going to send each and every person who’s here “illegally” home or are we going to be willing to lock them all up and keep them in our prisons?

Is your candidate running?

Michael Bloomberg
Folks are talking more and more and more about NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg possibly running for president.
Everywhere he goes folks are asking and so far he’s still saying “No.”
But how can we know for sure? I mean really?

NPR’s Robert Smith devised a simple solution that should work for any and all possible presidential candidates. Now if only someone could get a similar card for vice-presidential candidates.

pray for the least of these

tonight it’s frigid cold in Dallas. mid 30’s – 20’s I would estimate and maybe colder by early morning.
tonight Laurie and I played two rounds of miniature golf in our nice warm harm in suburbia.
tonight thousands sleep under overpasses and cardboard boxes less than 30 miles from us.
pray for them. pray that God warms their bodies and their hearts. and pray for us as a people when we drive by them and judge them with our thoughts and our stares.

Nerd olympics

A Minnesota tech company is hosting the F1 Overnight Web Site Challenge, where teams of geeks will create fully functional web sites for Minnesota nonprofits in only 24 hours.

One part nerd Olympics, one part community service project and one part race-against-the-clock — Sierra Bravo’s F1 Overnight Website Challenge will partner deserving Minnesota non-profits with teams of talented web developers for 24 hours of fun collaboration culminating in a fully operational website for each participating non-profit.

Love it! CMS suggests this could work for churches too. I agree. What non-profit website would you upgrade/change if you could?

The Bussey Bunch

Looks like I found a new TV show I might get to watch with Laurie.
She says, “i’ll watch it but i’m not promising anything.”
At least it’s on TLC – that might help.
It’s The Bussey Bunch – based on the folks that run PCW Wrestling in Arlington.
It’s the same federation Tim and Dennis wrestle for – in fact Dennis (Apoc) is in the trailer a couple times (look for the guy breathing fire).

Should be interesting to see. I’ve never been a huge fan of PCW from what I’ve seen – but they’re running a wrestling federation and I’m not – so they do have that going for them ;-).
