What does an average day look like for you?

I’m usually up at or around 6am to exercise and/or get ready for the day. The kids wake up shortly thereafter (or before on bad days) and I help them get breakfast and dressed while my wife gets ready for the day.

On weekdays I’m off to work at a tech company where I spend lots of time in meetings, conversations, and in front of the computer. I return home for dinner with the family and then we begin the night routine. I give all four kids baths, help them get in their pajamas, read stories and scriptures, say prayers, sing songs, and say good night (hopefully by 7:30). My wife and I then usually spend about an hour cleaning up the kitchen or house in preparation for the next day.

Once things are settled, I’ll get to work on my projects. These include my Pepe’s Chile site (pepeschile.com), my Dad’s Guide to Twins blog (dadsguidetotwins.com) or our private family blog service (familysays.com).

What’s been the best day of your life?

The best day of my life was my wedding day. Marrying my wife was the best decision I’ve ever made.

What’s been your greatest achievement in life thus far?

My greatest achievements are my kids. They are happy, healthy, and already I see them making good choices at an early age. Surely the types of people my kids become will be the visible manifestation of my abilities and efforts as a father.

What made the biggest difference in helping you achieve that goal?

My wife. She is my outstanding companion in the home and helps keep our family on track and moving forward.

If you could solve one problem in the world – what would it be?

That kids could have stronger families with a solid home foundation. A lot of the world’s problems would be prevented if we all learned moral discipline and responsibility in the home.

Joe Rawlinson is the father of four children: two boys and identical twin girls. By day he is a Senior e-Commerce Product Manager, by night an entrepreneur, and a family man all of the time.

What does an average day look like for you?

I wake up around 7:30… help get husbands stuff together for work (sometimes)… go clean some houses… do some housework… and then make dinner and hang out with my husband when he gets home

What’s been the best day of your life?

My wedding day

What’s been your greatest achievement in life thus far?

Catching Michael… just kidding… well maybe not. Greatest achievement is one I can take NO credit for and that is God redirecting my life and setting my path His direction. My life was in a bad way about 11 years ago and God came and totaly cleaned me up with His Son Jesus Christ and life has been so very awesome with trials since then.

What made the biggest difference in helping you achieve that goal?

Jesus Christ first and formost…then a couple of Ladies who God brought in my life who became close accountability and walked the road with me

If you could solve one problem in the world – what would it be?

The way we treat our adolescents as children….I do not agree. One looks just 50 maybe 100 years back and folks in the adolescent age range were not behaving as they do today…there is a reason for that. Society has stupified them. Dumbed them down and held them back. 50 – 100 years ago our adolescents were behaving as Men and Women….today not even close. God has still given them all the physical ability to do so but our society has become weak, shallow, stupid and w/out vision… The only way I can change this is to start with my own family.

Tami lives with her husband Michael in Mesquite, Texas. She recently began a part-time personal assistant service, Helping Hands. You can find her on Facebook.

Five questions with Kara Ellcey

Kara Ellcey

What does an average day look like for you?

Wake up to a smashin tune on my phone, who uses real alarm clocks anymore? Hit snooze twice, then get up for real. Head to work sometime between 7:30-8; Spend my day with our elderly brothers and sisters, trying to figure out what exactly I can do to make the day better for them, whether it be eating or communicating better. Then head home for the evening. Squeeze in a workout, waste a lot of time busying myself with projects, then get ready to do it all again in the morning.

What’s been the best day of your life?

Gee that’s hard…..I have been blessed to have more good days than bad days. To name a few; engagement, grad school graduation, every Christmas, the day we brought our Izzy home…. any day spent traveling to a new place.

What’s been your greatest achievement in life thus far?

Completing graduate school, and finishing a 1/2 marathon.

What made the biggest difference in helping you achieve that goal?

Support of family and friends, setting expectations high for myself, knowing that I had full support of my mom and dad who knew I could do anything I put my mind too.

If you could solve one problem in the world – what would it be?

Having a home of love, trust, and hope for each orphaned child. There are too many lonely hurting kids out there who have no idea what it means to feel the arms of their mom hold them, and know the joy of hearing their dad say, “I’m so proud of you.” Each child should have open loving arms to run to when their world crashes, someone to pat them on the back and tell them to keep it up, someone to wipe away their tears and hold them…… and to tell them about their heavenly father whose love we can not even begin to fathom.

Kara Ellcey is my youngest sister. What else do you need to know?! 😉 She lives in Mesquite, Texas with her husband and their dog Izzy. She doesn’t blog or Tweet – but if you’re lucky you might be able to find her on Skype from time to time. What does an average day look like for you?

Probably pretty boring, from an outsiders opinion :). I usually only get up when one of the kids wake up – though this is something I’m working on changing about myself. From that point on, I change a lot of diapers, I get a lot of snacks, drinks, and bottles, I clean, and I play. Most mornings we have some sort of errand to run, or a play group to attend, both of which are nice opportunities to get out of the house. Thrown in during the early afternoon is about a 2 hour nap time, which is when I get my personal things done for the day, and then usually take a nap. Then comes dinner, Daddy time, bath, and bed time! So my average days might seem boring to some, but I’d say they’re pretty awesome – I wouldn’t change it for the world 🙂
