Adventures in Fatherhood: Our boys are two months old!

Our boys are officially two months old!

It’s hard to believe it was two months ago (Oct. 21 at 2:36 p.m.) that we were welcoming them into the world. They’ve grown and changed so much since then… it’s been a tiring two months but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

And now for 21 23 things you may not know about our boys…

  1. They LOVE their pacifiers.
  2. They’re starting to enjoy their baths more. 1st bath I gave Hayden he cried while in the water. The last one I gave him he cried when I took him out.
  3. They’re gaining more and more head control – Ian especially.
  4. Reflux issues are MISERABLE.
  5. We’ve tried seven different formulas with Ian – hopefully we can switch him off Elecare once his reflux is under control with meds.
  6. I think we’ve tried five or six formulas with Hayden and have finally settled on Similac Sensitive (for now).
  7. Hayden doesn’t sleep well while on Prevacid. Tends to give him insomnia. But he’s been doing great on Zantac. We’re probably going to put Ian on Prevacid as soon as we can (Zantac isn’t helping all his issues) and hope we don’t see the same side effects.
  8. They both love car rides and their car seats. Unless their startled and lose their pacifiers they’ll sleep during 99% of all car rides.
  9. They both do well in their bassinets. Keeping them on an incline is probably a huge help with their reflux — and they’re far easier to take to grandparent’s than a big pack and play.
  10. Laurie has probably blogged more in the past 2 months than ever before – I’ve probably blogged less.
  11. They’re starting to develop their personalities more and more and are showing more and more “responsive” smiles.
  12. Hayden will also start laughing in his sleep from time to time — it’s AWESOME!
  13. Ian has a unique sound he makes when he wants to be sure we know he’s hungry.
  14. Hayden has a unique way of stretching and grinning when we wake him up and un-wrap him from his miracle blanket.
  15. They love to snuggle on our chests. It’s the highlight of my days.
  16. They LOVE to grab hold of my t-shirt collars when snuggling.
  17. They’ve nearly doubled their birth weights. Hayden was 4 lbs 14 oz. Ian was 4 lbs 11 oz. As of their last check up (last Monday) Hayden was 9 lbs 6 oz. and Ian was 9 lbs 1 oz.
  18. They’re finally wearing newborn and 0-3 month sized clothes.
  19. Since we found out we were having twins (last April) we’ve moved and purchased a new home closer to our families — replaced our micro-fiber sectional for a blended leather couch and recliner — replaced my extended cab truck for a Ford Explorer. Don’t let folks tell you twins aren’t expensive! šŸ™‚
  20. Their grandparents are smitten with them — I don’t blame them.
  21. They seem to ignore Presley and her barking and she seems to ignore them and their crying — unless we try to sit them next to her — then she’s likely to dart off in fear.
  22. They’re both captivated by lights and ceiling fans.
  23. They’re trying to learn how to suck their hands/fingers but haven’t figure out the whole uncurl your fingers from a fist to make it all work properly.

BONUS: Our boys don’t like to be awakened from their naps to take photos — no matter how special the day is. šŸ™‚ They do a lot better when they’ve been awake for a while — like last night.
