My first CD

U2_One

Watching the U2 show last night on YouTube with friends from around the world (thanks to Twitter) I was reminded of the first CD I ever purchased.

I received a radio/CD/tape boombox for Christmas in 1991 (maybe 92).

With it I was given several CDs as well. I think they included Steven Curtis Chapman and maybe Michael W. Smith. But I remember, the first CD I purchased (with my own money) was U2’s single for One.

I had already purchased the tape for Achtung Baby and had started wearing it out – so I chose the One single as my first CD purchase, which included:

  • One
  • Lady with the Spinning Head
  • Satellite of Love
  • Night and Day (Steel String remix)

I’ve still got that CD in my collection. Greatness – especially Satellite of Love.

So what about you? What was the first CD you purchased? Or maybe the first album, cassette or 8-track?

Do you still have it? Still listen to it? Or have you replaced it with a new format like Mp3, DVD-audio, Mini-Disk etc?
