Just how does this blog thing work?

Well, I heard some interesting questions, comments and such about my blog this weekend. It’s always nice to get feedback whenever you can (of course anyone can always drop me an e-mail with questions or feedback).
But several people said they didn’t understand why/how they had to register to leave a comment on my blog.
I introduced new rules for leaving comments due to the large amount of spam I’m now getting as comments. Luckily my spam filters stop most of it but since Thursday of last week, I’ve had nearly 200 spam comments. Gripes.
Anyways, I thought I’d walk everyone through the registration process and show you how to comment on SSL.

Step 1.
Click the comments link.
This may say, “No Comments” or “1 Comments” or “243 Comments.”
Once you click it, you’ll come to a screen similar to this:

Step 2.
Click the “logged in” link.

This will take you to the next screen:

Step 3.
Click the “Register” link below the blue box.

This will take you to the next screen:

Step 4.
Type a user name and your e-mail address in the correct fields and then click “Register.”

And don’t worry, I have no plans to sell your email address to all those companies who keep spamming me. In fact, I could care less what e-mail address you put in there – but just remember that your password will be e-mailed to this address so you might want to put one in that you can actually check.

Step 5.
Check your e-mail.

Your password should appear in your e-mail inbox in a matter of seconds. There should also be a link you can click to automatically log you in. Or you can return to this screen and type in your user name and password…

Step 6.
Fill in your profile info.

In all honesty, I don’t care what you put in any of the fields, but if something looks too suspicious/spamish just know that I may delete your account.
The only thing I’d really recommend changing/adding is your password. Make it something you can remember but something Joe Blow neighbor can’t figure out.

Step 7.
Click “Update Profile”
.
That should do it, you’re now registered and can comment away. That should do it. If you have any questions just let me know.
