you matter!

Seth Godin shares ::

  • When you love the work you do and the people you do it with, you matter.
  • When you are so gracious and generous and aware that you think of other people before yourself, you matter.
  • When you leave the world a better place than you found it, you matter.
  • When you continue to raise the bar on what you do and how you do it, you matter.
  • When you teach and forgive and teach more before you rush to judge and demean, you matter.
  • When you touch the people in your life through your actions (and your words), you matter.
  • When kids grow up wanting to be you, you matter.
  • When you see the world as it is, but insist on making it more like it could be, you matter.
  • When you inspire a Nobel prize winner or a slum dweller, you matter.
  • When the room brightens when you walk in, you matter.
  • And when the legacy you leave behind lasts for hours, days or a lifetime, you matter.

adopt a Jesus

Have you seen the new trailer for Brandt’s Russo’s documentary?

While I personally preferred the title “pastor’s parking only” (he joked about that title during the chat for our podcast), Brandt says the movie needed something a bit more serious and they’ve settled on a title, ‘”Adopt a Jesus” (which is an awesome idea and title in and of itself).

Brandt told me tonight (via facebook chat) that production is coming along great and he’s wrapping up a lot of the voice-over work this week. The movie is scheduled to be released in August of this year.

We can’t wait to see it!

Now if you’re expecting this movie to show up in your local theater – sorry – but that’s not very likely. Brandt and the other folks working on this movie are self-producing, self-distributing, and self-marketing this movie — so they can use all the help they can get to get this message out.

Hopefully after watching the trailer (and listening to Brandt’s story) you’re interest will be peaked and you’ll start getting word out about the movie on your blogs, twitter, facebook, myspace and elsewhere, and then you’ll join the facebook group, tell more friends about it and then see if you can organize a public screening in your area once the movie is out.

After watching the trailer and listening to Brandt’s story — what do you think?

The Great Disappointment

Nicholas Fiedler (of Nick and Josh Podcast fame) shared an open, honest reflection on his disappointment with Emergent on his blog.

He mentions later in the comments that perhaps after spending 15 months abroad, he’s disappointed to see the conversation hasn’t moved anywhere from when he left. Understood.

Here are my comments:

Cymbrogi

cymbrogi

A good friend turned me on to this word yesterday during our short phone call – cymbrogi.

A Celtic term used (pronounced koom-bro-gee) that’s been translated along the lines of “fellow countrymen,” “band of warriors,” and “companions of the heart.”

I love the term and the idea that we as a Church, and smaller communities of faith, should be Cymbrogi.

While searching for more information, I found one group online that uses the term in context of “sword brothers”.

Update on my cousin’s baby

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any updates on my cousin’s baby but we have some great news tonight that I wanted to be sure and share.

Tests show that the baby does have down syndrome but we’re still praying it will be a mild case. The baby is due in October and we’re praying that she continues to grow strong in healthy as she develops.

Also I received this update from my aunt tonight…

We have great news tonight!!! Amanda and Bryan (my cousin) went to see the specialist in Garland. He told them that the hygroma is resolving itself. PRAISE THE LORD! Ava’s heart is doing good and she is gaining weight. We have so much to be thankful for. God’s healing is continuing and He is not through yet. I have prayed that He will finish the good work He started in her from the beginning. He is doing just that. We still have a way to go on this journey, but God remains faithful. Keep them in your prayers and thoughts.
Giving GLORY to the Father who is in heaven!

Please keep Bryan, Amanda and Ava in your prayers. Thanks!
