Huck-a-Mania

Whatcha gonna do brother when Huck-a-Mania runs wild over you?!

You’ve gotta see this blog post….

THE ONLY POLLSTER that really matters is Scott Rasmussen of Rasmussen Reports. In addition to his unrivaled track record, Rasmussen is also the only pollster who is currently screening for likely voters. So when Rasmussen says something, we ought to pay attention.
Yesterday, Rasmussen released a poll of the Iowa Republican Caucus. Given its surprising results, I’m surprised it hasn’t received more attention. Romney’s winning with 25 percent; no big shakes there. Fred’s in second at 19 percent; again, nothing earth shattering. But here comes the bombshell: Mike Huckabee checks in at 18 percent, a stunningly strong third place showing and within shouting distance of the frontrunners….
Huckabee is the most natural campaigner in the bunch. Unlike one member of the top tier, there’s no danger that he’ll doze off in mid-sentence. Unlike other members of the top-tier, Huckabee’s a social conservative’s dream. You want someone rock-ribbed on the social issues? Huckabee’s your guy. He doesn’t even believe in evolution. His taxing and spending in Arkansas may not be every conservative’s ideal, but Huckabee probably has fewer policy skeletons in his closet than anyone else in the field.

Oh and Gov. McDreamy announced his endorsement for Rudy this week. Looks like typical politics in action.

The txting church

Over the last year or so text messaging has become more prevalent than ever. Luckily I have an unlimited txting plan for my cell phone, because it seems I rarely use any minutes on my monthly plan (thanks to free calls to other AT&T users) but I do lots of txt messaging.
I’ve even become known as the go-to-guy when a prayer requests needs to be shared. I take advantage of text messages first and then normally send a follow-up email with more information.
Brian sent me a link to a story from MondayMorningInsight.com that I apparently overlooked, “How Will The Church Use Text Messaging?”
We’ve been discussing over e-mail the last couple weeks some ways that our church could possibly use text messaging to more effectively communicate with our partners. We’ve had several ideas, including feedback during the services. But I think some of that may take more hardware and software than we’re ready to pay for. But their may be other areas, services we can offer that we haven’t seen yet or tackled.
It could be something as “simple” as using twitter to track what Brian or other leadership folks do during the day, or it could be as complex as responding to the message and then showing the responses on the screen during our Sunday morning Service – kind of like VH1’s Pop-Up Video.
Any ideas? Do you see
your church utilizing txt messages? If so, how?

The Wiki Tree

I don’t know how many of you looked at our new Wikipedia site yesterday… I haven’t worried with stats since I’m visiting it a lot and making additions, changes and such but I’ve run into a dilemma. I’m trying to map out our family tree (The Blundell/Scherbarth portion of it for now) and I’m not sure of the layout.

See what you think…

The way it is now (as of this posting) made sense to begin with, but it might be a bit more confusing now. As it is I show up under Heading 1 and 2. But maybe that’s how it should be. Feel free to add your thoughts by clicking on the discussion page, or leaving your comments here.

Mission Accomplished

From the Barack Obama campaign:

I’m leaving the Tonight Show studio and I wanted to share something.
Jay Leno just asked if it bothers me that some of the Washington pundits are declaring Hillary Clinton the winner of this election before a single vote has been cast.
I’ll tell you what I told him: Hillary is not the first politician in Washington to declare “Mission Accomplished” a little too soon.
We started this week $2.1 million behind the Clinton campaign — a lead they built in large part with contributions from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs.
We don’t accept money from federal lobbyists or PACs. But we’ve already cut that advantage in half with small donations from people like you.

Spicy corn dip

From the recipe exchange last month:

Sorry this took so long but here is my recipe for some corn dip. Whenever I take this somewhere, I’m always requested to bring it again the next time!

2 11 oz. cans of white shoepeg corn (Green Giant) drained
¼ cup chopped white onions
8 oz. package of shredded Colby Jack cheese
5-6 FRESH jalapenos (seeded and chopped fine)
1 cup of mayo (I use the reduced fat)
½ cup of sour cream (I use Daisy Light sour cream)

Mix all together and serve with big scoop Fritos. I save one jalapeno and put in center of dish as a decoration.
Hope you enjoy this.
