Weekend fun with mom & dad (as told by Hayden & Ian)

Hayden: Hi this is Hayden…well, Ian is here too but he is too busy laughing at a rock right now to talk. We wanted to tell you all about our great weekend we had with mom and dad.

It started on Thursday when mom came home from work early and was able to play with us. Ian was fussy all day and driving dad crazy, and of course I, Hayden, was the angel all day.

Ian: Hold up… this is Ian, and he was not the angel all day like he wants you to believe. By the way… have you seen this rock?! Look at it! I can’t stop laughing!

Hayden: Whatever Ian… since you’re too busy laughing, I’ll keep telling the story. So for dinner on Thursday night mom wanted us to try some new bottles, I guess you can call them bottles, I don’t know what they were. We liked them though because we could hold onto it and pull it out of our mouths when we wanted and then put it back in when we were hungry again.

Ian: Hey don’t forget to tell them about that loud woooo and dance dad was doing during the day! That was crazy!

Hayden: Oh yeah… (chuckle). It was pretty crazy!

So, let’s see, where was I? After dinner we went outside and played in the grass in the backyard. We can’t wait for another year or two when we will be able to run all around the yard chasing Presley or kicking a ball, that will be so much fun. But for now, all we can do is sit in the grass with mom and dad. But that’s just as fun for us because we had never seen this grass stuff before. It’s kind of itchy and feels weird on our feet. Mom took some pictures of us so we can remember our first time in the grass.

Friday was a fun day too. We went and got a lot of pictures taken of our heads for our DOC Bands we are about to get. Mom and dad said they had to take our pictures so we can get a molding done of our heads so the bands will fit correctly and not wobble around or make our heads even more misshaped, we sure don’t want that. The nice lady put this stocking thing over our head to flatten our hair down, because you know Ian’s chia-pet hair is everywhere.

My hair is so short it wasn’t that bad but I still had to wear the stocking , just you wait though, one day I’ll have luscious locks just like my brothers! The stocking didn’t bother either of us, we were big boys and didn’t fuss or cry or anything. Mom and dad said we were champs! Of course mom took pictures – we can’t do anything without having a picture taken, she keeps telling us that one day we’ll be glad she took so many pictures – we’ll have to see about that.

Ian: After our pictures the physical therapist had to look at them and make sure we got good ones before we were able to leave, so mom and dad had to keep us entertained for a little while. That’s always fun. Nobody entertains us quite like they do. And I think dad wanted to do his loud woo again but I think he was afraid to make too much noise.

Daddy was making some funny faces at us

Hayden: Friday was a busy day for us and we didn’t take a good nap so we were kind of fussy that afternoon. Mom tried to keep us entertained and put her glasses on us…we looked pretty funny.

That night Gramma and Grandpa came over to give us our bath and put us to bed while mommy and daddy went out to eat. Like I said, we were pretty fussy that day so I’m sure Mom and Dad were thankful for a little break.

Saturday morning we woke up and mom and dad brought us into their room and let us lay on their bed for a while before we are breakfast. That was a treat because we don’t get to sleep in their room, they say we need to learn to sleep in our own beds in our own room. After our snuggle time and breakfast in bed we got dressed and went to our cousin, Jake’s soccer game. Then we went to eat with Grammy and Pappa before going to check out our Uncle Brad’s new gymnastics facility. That was fun! We got to watch him and our cousin, Brooklyn, jump on the trampoline and pappa even let us play on a mat with him.

Ian: Because we were on some really soft mats mommy let us practice our sitting up, we’re getting pretty good at it!

We were so worn out we slept the entire way home, I think mom even fell asleep too. We had such a fun and busy day that when mom put down to sleep we were out like a light.

This morning we ate our breakfast and then mom gave us some new food to try. We were eating rice cereal before but we got to try some squash today. At first we didn’t know what to think of this new food, it tasted weird and the texture was different. But after a few bites we ended up liking it and ate quite a bit. She said that we will get to try another new food next week, wonder what it will be this time?!

Later after we had our morning nap we played on our playmat and Hayden found his feet. I found mine a few weeks ago and love to play with them but Hayden just found his and I think he has a new found love for them as well.

Our cousins Jake and Brooklyn came by to play with us for a little while before our nap on Sunday and we were so hyped up from all the fun with them we didn’t want to take a nap. Eventually we did fall asleep though.

So that was our fun weekend with mom and dad, we don’t want it to end… but tomorrow we’ll get to play with Gramma and then on Tuesday with Grammy.

He’s Married

Me & Brian on his wedding day

My brother, Brian finally got married! We always joked with him that one day he was just going to show up and say “hey, this is why wife!” So needless to say, we are all excited that he didn’t do that and that we were all invited to the wedding.

He and Stephanie were married Saturday afternoon at the Victorian House in Kaufman. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception and then we sent them off to Cancun with fireworks and sparklers. Here are some of the pics from their wedding…

We wish him and Stephanie the best and a life full of happiness together. Welcome to the family Stephanie, we love you both!!

Snow Day

I didn’t think we were going to get any snow this winter, actually I didn’t think we were going to get below 50 degrees this winter. So I was rather shocked when I looked out our window last Sunday and saw SNOW! Then it kept coming and coming. By Sunday night our entire yard was covered with snow.

Snow Day 2011

Of course, the boys are way to young to know what snow is or remember have any fun in it. But, we did take them out to get pictures in the snow so we could show them pictures of their first experience with snow, and maybe the only one until they are 5. I wished we would have taken a picture of all 4 of us together but it was cold so we were trying to make it snappy and our tripod broke. I’ve learned to just accept that you get what you can when you are dealing with babies.

Mommy and the boys

We kept it a pretty lazy day around casa de blundell while the snow fell outside. We had the blinds on the windows open so we could see out, had a fire going and just enjoyed hanging out as a family. The boys had some tummy time (along with Presley) by the fire….but not too close to it.

Grandma Margie stayed Sunday night at our house so she wouldn’t have to drive in it Monday morning to come watch the boys. Both Jonathan and I ended up going to work a few hours late and by the time we were on our way the roads weren’t that bad.

It was a great way to end the weekend and I always welcome snow!!

I took this photo during our new years day “photo shoot” and absolutely love it! It’s one of my favorite pictures of them and completely shows off their different personalities. Hayden is more of the serious, subdude, calm type and Ian is more of the gotta see whats going on, curious type. So here’s the picture with our comments as to what they are saying…

Hayden to Ian:
“Dude, you gotta calm down”
“Hey, the more you smile, the more they’ll keep taking our picture”
“Seriously, calm down man”
“I wish you would just calm down and put your tuxedo on like your supposed to”

Ian to Hayden:
“Come on, why aren’t you smiling, this is fun”
“Cheeeeeeeeeese”
“Po sucker, you got stuck with the penguin suit!”
“aren’t you glad they aren’t making a goofy video of us this time around”

It will be fun to see if their personalities continue to be like this or if they switch.

Getting ready for Christmas

Things are starting to look a little like Christmas around the Blundell house. Last year we didn’t put up our tree because we were trying to sell the house and we would have to move furniture and that’s not the best idea when you are trying to do everything you can to sell a house. Well, this year we did put it up. We had to have a tree up for the boys first Christmas. So this past weekend we decorated for Christmas. We didn’t do a whole lot…it was a lot of work just to put up a tree and stockings on the fireplace when you have 2 newborns demanding your attention, but we did get it all put up. The boys even helped dad put up the tree…

I normally put some garland and lights all around the fireplace but I just didn’t feel like it this year. And you can forget putting lights up on the house…when you have to choose between putting lights up or sleep, I think anyone will choose sleep.

I got Hayden and Ian their very first Christmas stocking so that Santa can fill it with all kinds of goodies.

But since their stockings were pretty specific I had to get them another one for the coming years. You’ll have to wait and see that one next year 😉 And, of course, I couldn’t forget my most FAVORITE Christmas decoration of all…

my favorite Christmas decoration

Every year I put it out somewhere new around the house because I can never decide where it looks best. This year I put it on our dinning room table and I kind of like it there so I may keep doing that…we’ll see. You’ve gotta spice things up a little.

The boys were kind of sleepy the whole time we were decorating so we had to get them into the holiday spirit…

After we were all finished we sat around, listened to Christmas music, drank hot chocolate (even though it was 65 degrees outside) and enjoyed the view. We can’t wait for all of the holiday festivities to begin and to spend time with our families.

Friends

Since the boys have been born we have been shown so much love from our friends and family. We have had delicious meals prepared for us and that alone has been a wonderful blessing to us. With two little mouths to feed every couple of hours our days fly by. We’ll look at the clock and it’s 8:00pm and we have no clue what to eat…then we realize we still have left overs from a meal that was brought to us the day before – Awesome! We have had a lot of visits from friends wanting to come see the boys, if they only knew how much they are already loved! I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all our friends and family for their love and support since we welcomed our little boys home a few weeks ago.

Here are just some of the friends/family that have visited us either in the hospital or at home.

For some reason we don’t have one picture with either of the boys and my dad or brother, Brian…we’ll have to take one soon!

Fall is here!!

photo

Fall is here, I am so excited! Fall is my favorite time of year…the crisp, cool air and the lack of humidity. It’s great! I love the fact that you can go out to the mailbox and not lose 10 pounds from water loss by sweating (and lets face it, that’s about all I did outside this summer – mailbox and back). I love fall the colors and decor, the great smells that fill your home (although most of the time its from a candle or my wonderful scentsy warmer!) and of course Thanksgiving which marks the beginning of a wonderful holiday season. But this fall will be the best fall I’ve experienced thus far…our boys will be here! We will get to celebrate Thanksgiving with two new beautiful boys in our family, I can’t wait!

How about you, what do you look forward to most this time of year?

Baby Shower #2

This past weekend my family and friends hosted a couples baby shower for us and the boys. We were going to have it at a friends house but after I was put on bed rest and the closer I am to delivering, we decided to have it at our house instead. So my family/friends came over and helped clean our house, decorate and get it all ready for the shower…it looked great, they did an awesome job!

We feel extremely blessed with the outpouring of love by our family and friends and not only to us but our boys are already loved so much. I can’t even come close to expressing how thankful we are for everyone who was a part of the shower and how much we love each of you! “The hosts” surprised us with our stroller and one of our car seats!!! The stroller is like pushing a suburban as Tami said…and boy was she right. Jonathan’s parents, sister and brother-in-law surprised us with the other car seat!

you can take the seats off the stroller and there is an attachment to hook the car seats in.

Our friend Meredith made us an awesome diaper cake, I love those things…not only are they cute but they are functional! That’s my kind of gift. I’m going to have to get either her or my friend Evie who made the one at our last shower to show me how to make them. Those make perfect shower gifts.

I think we can say that we are set and pretty much have everything we need for when the boys arrive. There are a few little things that we need…and I say need, they are things that would just make our lives easier when they get here. So luckily we have gift cards that we can use to get some of those little things that are left on the registry. Again, I can’t express enough gratitude to everyone who has helped us get ready to welcome these two little blessings into the world and we feel sooo loved and know how much our boys are and will be loved!

Thank you again to Vicki, Tami, Michael, Ty, Rosanne, Brad, Jen, Brian, Stephanie and my mom for everything – we love you all very much!
