Google+ Profile Hack (with Photoshop Template)

Last year I shared a Facebook profile hack here on my blog.

Today I’ve updated the hack to work with Google+ (especially now that Facebook has shifted to their new timeline format so the Facebook hack doesn’t work anymore) and shared the updated instructions over at BigBible.org.uk.

You can download the zipped Photoshop Template here and get the instructions over at BigBible.org.uk.

Update: Google+ announced a totally new redesign this morning.

Surprisingly this hack still works – but it’s not a necessity as you can now use one long photo instead of multiple thumbnails.

So now that the redesign is live – what do you think about it? Like it? Love it? Hate change?

Mini-vacations

Laurie and I have had a number of great vacations over the past 4 years – and I think we’re both looking forward to many more with (and maybe without) our two boys.

Just for kicks, I found a cool tutorial the other day that simulated the “toy-photography” (aka tilt-shift) niche via Photoshop and thought I’d create some “mini-vacations” for you to enjoy.

Gimp vs. Photoshop

Blogger and commercial-prepress worker Philip McClure runs Photoshop by day and Gimp by night. Which is better? Read his comparison to find out.
McClure comes to the main conclusion that because of its press capabilities (specifically CMYK and Pantone modes) Photoshop is a must for any professional printers/designers.
But Gimp is the better choice for home users instead of pirating a copy of Photoshop.
I’ve been using Gimp for my graphics program since my hard drive crashed in December and while it’s taken some getting used to I’ve enjoyed it. Yes, it’s not Photoshop which I have become extremely dependent upon over the years for countless applications and would love to be able to afford for my home computer – but I can still do good/decent work with it and its way better than Microsoft Paint.
Here’s a few banners I put together in a couple minutes with Gimp. I could have done more but I just needed a couple quickies to advertise OrangeNoiseRadio:
