Origami looks really cool

I’m watching a video right now with Robert Scoble and Otto Berkes, general manager for Origami, showing off the new toy.

They’re calling it an Ultra-Mobile PC.

It has a seven-inch screen with tons of cool features.

It will ship with Windows XP Tablet Edition, with a 800×400 screen res. The features will differ from unit to unit, but you can hook in USB devices and the one they’re showing off has a 1 GhZ processor.
Estimated costs are between $599 to $999.

According to Berkes, you can run Windows Vista when it releases as well.

From what Berkes said, this line of computers will basically bridge the gap between Smart Phones and Laptop or Tablet PCs.

It’s small, but not too small that it’s too expensive.

Looks very cool.

Dallas City Council bloggin

Frontburner has an “insider” at city hall. He’s blogging today’s meeting. Interesting and fun stuff. Seems quite a bit different than a Waxahachie council meeting.

10:32 — A citizen just shuffled in wearing an African/tribal-style hat, a hangman’s noose with fake blood (red paint) around his neck, fake shackles around his wrists and ankles, and carrying a large wooden walking stick. True story.

Election Day

It’s primary day today and I’m still trying to track down GOP candidates.
I’d love to keep everyone posted on election returns, but I’ll be out meeting with candidates tonight, so you can check WDL after the smoke clears or WFFA and Dallas Morning News should have updates… or I’ll try and update whenever I can from my phone.

Peter Rowen doesn’t own Boy or War

Peter Rowen, the coverboy for U2’s Boy and War albums said recently in an interview that irronically he doesn’t own either of the albums he was paid in Mars candy bars to be the coverboy for.

My memories of working with the band are all but gone…the only things I actually remember are me not liking the soup we were served by the photographer’s wife and Bono nearly crashing into a line of traffic on the way home from the shoot!

Rowen now works as a photograher and had the privalege to shoot the band’s 2001 concert at Slane Castle.

New Orleans Termites

have you seen this email yet?

If you use mulch around your house be very careful about buying mulch this year. After the hurricane in New Orleans many trees were blown over. These trees were then turned into mulch and the state is trying to get rid of tons and tons of this mulch to any state or company who will come and haul it away. So it will be showing up in Home Depot and Lowes at dirt cheap prices with one huge problem; Formosan Termites will be the bonus in many of those bags. New Orleans is one of the few areas in the country were the Formosan Termites has gotten a strong hold and most of the trees blown down were already badly infested with those termites. Now we may have the worst case of transporting a problem to all parts of the country that we have ever had. These termites can eat a house in no time at all and we have no good control against them, so tell your friends that own homes to avoid cheap mulch and know were it came from.
