The Outlaw Preachers (#outlawpreachers) have a great practice known simply as Grace Bombs.

Essentially, when someone’s hurting, feeling down, needing a hand to hold or a shoulder to cry on, everyone’s invited to record a short video or voice mail and the messages are collected and sent directly to that person ASAP.

Grace Bombs can also take the shape of a Flash Mob of Love via Twitter — with a mass of messages of encouragement directed towards individuals in need.

Imagine if all the Insurgents of Love put our heads together and found ways of putting Grace Bombs into mass production.

Be a blessing

…Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble.

That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless — that’s your job, to bless. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing.

Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good, Here’s what you do:

Say nothing evil or hurtful;

Snub evil and cultivate good;

run after peace for all you’re worth.

The perfect cellphone (revisited)

Evolution of the mobile phone
Evolution of the cellphone | Via Wikicommons

In April 2008, Laurie and I were on the search for new cellphones. We both ended up with a BlackBerry Curve, which met almost every thing on my dream list at the time.

I went on and upgraded to a newer BlackBerry Curve and she moved to the iPhone 3G.

And now I’m sporting a G1 running Froyo after my BlackBerry took a nose dive on our new tile floor.

I try not to be too picky about my cellphones, but for the initial (and monthly) cost, I do have my preferences.

So I think its time to upgrade my wishlist for the perfect cellphone (especially considering with the recent advances in phones like iPhone 4, Evo 4G and Droid X) in hopes that some carrier and manufacturer will get this all together by the time my contract is up in April 2011.

My mate Stewart is working on his dissertation.

He’s been working on it long enough that I may never want to go back and get my Masters degree ;-).

And in his dissertation he’s writing about the institutional church.

Adding links to image captions in WordPress

As you may have noticed, I’ve recently started adding photo captions to the majority of the photos in my new blog posts.

WordPress has a great feature that lets you add these captions with ease if you’re using an image you’ve uploaded to your site/server.

Wordpress Caption Field

Simply fill in the caption field with the information you’d like to share (i.e. Rick Rocks out | Photo by Jonathan Blundell) and depending on how your WordPress theme is styled, your results will look something like this:

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Five questions with Theresa Seeber

Everyone has a story. What’s yours?

What does an average day look like for you?

An average day for me starts with one or more of three very cute, small children climbing into the bed with me to wake me up with a cuddle. How sweet is that? I spend the first part of my day homeschooling these same three little ones. They range in age from 3 to 8, so schooling still involves a lot of fun and games. Growing up, my favorite thing to do was to go to school, and the only job I’ve ever seriously considered (and went to college to train for) is a school teacher. So, homeschooling is a sort of dream come true for me. My oldest (15) will be starting high school in a week! Amazing.
