My enemies are men like me

US Library of Congress

I have come to give you life
And to show you how to live it
I have come to make things right
To heal their ears and show you how to forgive them

Because I would rather die
I would rather die
I would rather die
Than to take your life

How can I kill the ones I’m supposed to love
My enemies are men like me
I will protest the sword if it’s not wielded well
My enemies are men like me

Peace by way of war is like purity by way of fornication
It’s like telling someone murder is wrong
And then showing them by way of execution

When justice is bought and sold just like weapons of war
The ones who always pay are the poorest of the poor

  1. Nice stuff for fantasy land!

Is this what the whole Bible teaches? For instance, Genesis 9:6, Rev. 5:12 & 6:7-8.

The lyrics may be politically correct. I’ll grant that.

  2. This poem has a lot of truth in it.

The line about the poorest of the poor paying the most is true and not in a conforting way.

    Thanks for keeping it real.

  3. Fantasy land eh?
I guess that’s what it will remain unless we start working to change that.
Seems as if things become a self-fulfilling prophecy if we keep believing it.
If we continue to believe the world is going to hell in a hand basket and do nothing about it – guess what’s gonna happen.
If we chose to step up and follow the Slaughtered Lamb’s invitation to join in the redemption of the world – things may begin to change.
