iTunes Radio – an unexpected mix

iradio

Listening to the new iTunes Radio today.

Started out perhaps appropriately with “Maiden Voyage” by Herbie Hancock earlier today.

Tonight I created a new station with U2 as the starting point and so far it’s been fairly predictable.

Coldplay, Snow Patrol, REM, Goo Goo Dolls, Florence + The Machine.

But now… Copperhead Road by Steve Earl?!

Not that I don’t enjoy the song… but who matched that one up?

Have you tried iTunes Radio yet? Or upgraded to iOS 7? What do you think? Will iRadio be the end of sites like Pandora or Songza?

  1. Personally, I am liking iTunes Radio, definitely one of the better pluses of upgrading my 4S to iOS7. I like the mix, the quality and the lack of commercials (I’ve heard some ads to buy the song I’m listening to but those seem more “on topic” and less jarring though I am sure that will change with time). My other favorite iOS 7 feature is the new lock screen. I love being able to swipe up and get things I need right away like a flashlight, timer, calculator and some quick settings.

I’ve debated moving to Android, but it seems that for now Apple is providing me the best experience at the lowest cost to me.

    1. That’s great. Overall, iTunes Radio sounded great. I listened for 3-4 hours yesterday and overall really enjoyed it. I just thought Steve Earl + U2 was a bit jarring ;-).

And I’m also enjoying iOS 7 so far. Some of the new icons urk me a bit but I’ll get over it. My biggest issue in considering Android is that I’m so invested in Apple’s eco-system now with my iPhone and iPad so I’d really hate to have to switch highways in the middle of my journey.
