Pidgin 2.0 released

Pidgin 2.0 (formerly GAIM) is finally out of beta. The long awaited update to GAIM is now available for download.

With Pidgin Windows and Unix users can talk with all these Instant Messengers from the same program/window:

  • AIM
  • Bonjour
  • Gadu-Gadu
  • Google Talk
  • Groupwise
  • ICQ
  • IRC
  • MSN
  • QQ
  • SILC
  • SIMPLE
  • Sametime
  • XMPP
  • Yahoo!
  • Zephyr

I’ve been a big fan of GAIM and look forward to Pidgin (the name was changed after a trademark agreement with AOL).
Check it out, drop me a message and let me know what you think.

Unfortunately Laurie was taking all the pics and didn’t get in any. Not sure how that happened 😉

Back home again

Well… it’s Saturday night and we’re back home again. Well I say “we’re back home again” loosely because, well as of last night I’m living in a brand new home with my new life* Laurie.
It is a little different having girl stuff in my home. But granted its more like boy stuff has moved into her place since she’s been here a full month already.
I can’t believe we’ve been married a full week already – and yet it seems like we’ve been best friends for a lifetime already.
The Bride and Groom
After the wedding on Saturday we went and enjoyed a good meal at Outback Steakhouse before returning to our room at the Hyatt Regency. We had a great room and opted for the Park, Sleep and Fly package which made getting to our flight at 6:36 a.m. much easier. We simply paid a little more for our room and were able to keep my truck parked at the hotel and took a shuttle to our gate on Sunday morning.

We arrived in Pagosa Springs, via Denver and Durango later that afternoon after stopping for some Serious Texas BBQ in Durango.
Serious Texas BBQ
They offered up some great BBQ along a gorgeous river side patio.
After arriving in Pagosa Springs, it didn’t take long before we enjoying the 20 hot springs fed mineral baths outdoors.
It was also not long until we started hunting a few Geocaches the next day. We found five overall during the week, including our first Geocoin, Jeep Travel Bug and Multi-Cache.

We also spent a day traveling the Durango-Silverton Railroad (although it only traveled to Cascade Canyon due to their “winter schedule”).

We also enjoyed a visit to the Pagosa Brewing Company where my lovely life suggested I get a hat to commemorate our visit. She knows me too well.
Overall it was a great week of Geocaching, great food and great relaxation in the hot spring tubs.
Although I must say despite enjoying several local eateries I think Laurie’s favorite meals during the week were at Subway, Taco Bell and McDonalds – go figure ;-).
Well I should really get to work on a video for church tomorrow, but I wanted to be sure and update my blog before it got too late – we’ve spent most of the day running errands and buying new camping gear with our wedding gift cards and we also bought a brand new GPS unit so we can return the borrowed unit from Josh and Shalyn.

Jumping for Joy
Thanks to everyone for their prayers, support, gifts and encouragements – they’re all greatly appreciated!
And be sure to keep posted because I know we have a slide show coming as well as an updated version of CasaDeBlundell.com and more photos on Flickr.
And I’m sure my life will post her thoughts and comments before too long as well.

*Hat tip to Thomas for the proper example/wording for wife. 🙂 After all – anyone can have a wife. It takes a real man to make her his life.

Increase your gas mileage with nail polish remover

Maybe?
Wisebread has some info on how pure acetone (a.k.a nail polish remover) might increase your gas mileage by 10 mpg.

The Hole – video powered by Metacafe

Wisebread points out that because the acetone burns so hot it may ruin like gaskets and O-rings but how much will those gaskets and O-rings cost you compared to saving 10 mpg on gas I wonder?
I’d be interested to see how the acetone works in the long run with a car.
Anyone tried this with an older model vehicle?

Taxes Taxes Taxes

Well I paid my share of taxes this year – I owed $500+ to the government thanks to a bad W-4 form when I went to work at the paper. Sure wish someone would have caught that a year and a half ago.
Apparently “head of household” doesn’t count unless you have kids. I would assume that as a single man, running my share of my household I would be the head of my household. The IRS didn’t see it that way and now they want me to pay them more money.
Sure hope it goes to a soldier needing armor for his Humvee or feeding a starving kid somewhere rather than useless government bureaucracy.
In other tax news I helped my dad finish some of his taxes with Turbo Tax with the help of Team Viewer. He was having trouble printing his return and I knew there was no way I’d be able to walk him through it over the phone. Especially without seeing it myself. So I walked him through the setup and we went to work and I had him back and running again soon.
Check out Team Viewer anytime you need to do family phone support. It’s free and your family members will thank you – so will your patience ;-).
