What being rich tastes like

D Magazine blogger Sarah Eveans shares a humorous side of Starbucks in Highland Park:

This morning I stopped into Starbucks in Highland Park Village to get coffee. (I know, I know, but I really don’t go very often, and the aforementioned Trinitinis were making my head swell.) I ordered my drink, and the barista called the order back. But instead of saying, “One grande, nonfat, sugar-free vanilla latte,” he said: “One grande, nonfat Highland Park.” Apparently, this drink is so popular ’round these parts they have renamed it to make their lives easier. So, when my red cup was placed in front of me, I took the lid off and poured the steaming coffee right into the lap of the first Botoxed cougar in $700 workout clothes I saw. No, I didn’t. I drank it, and it was gooood.

Reminds me of Chris’ trip/interview to People Newspaper, D Magazine’s sister publication. He said when he walked into the office he felt like alarms were going off all around him saying, “POOR! POOR! POOR!

Team Micah ready to run again

From Myspace….

Hello everyone. I hope this email finds you all doing great! December is right around the corner which means it is that time of year again. Time for the Wellstone’s White Rock Marathon and TEAM MICAH!!!! Last year was a great success because of all of you. Over $5000 was donated to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in support of TEAM MICAH and all together children from TSRH raised over $56,000.

Like last year we have a great group of people running (some walking) the Half Marathon. For some it will be their second year of running for TEAM MICAH and we have several new people that will join us. We are looking for more people to join TEAM MICAH with a donation to support our efforts. Micah will never be able to run this marathon…we are running for him and for all the children at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. Our hopes are that you will forward this email to your friends and family and help us reach as many people as we can.

Early Morning Music

My friend Aaron has taken the leap and is officially starting his own online music promotion/management company this week, Early Morning Music.
His wife Brandi, who was one of my assistant editors at The Bells Student Newspaper at UMHB has more info on her blog.
Aaron’s done promotion for several record labels in the Nashville area, including Gotee and Word and I’m sure he’s taking a lot of what he’s learned and applying it with his new adventure.
I wish him the best of luck. And while you’re at it check out Remedy Drive, the first band he’ll be doing management for (which by the way, I’m very disappointed that I can’t download or add their Myspace songs to my Myspace profile – what’s up with that Mr Aaron?)
