Jamie Oliver – the Naked Chef – has put together a list of 62 things everyone should have in their pantry for Oprah.com.

It looks like a pretty good list.

Here’s the list… or you can download a handy PDF of the list thanks to Oprah.com.

There’s definitely some things on the list that we don’t keep on hand regularly — and with Laurie’s allergies I don’t expect us to keep much shrimp on hand.

There’s also a few staple items for our family that I would add to the list, like frozen chicken breasts, turkey bacon (which we buy in bulk and freeze till needed) and Rotel.

What about you? What would you add or change on the list?

  1. My pantry is limited to 3 over-the-counter shelves for the two-legged folks and 1 under-the-counter shelf for the finicky cats & goat-gutt dog. Dry & canned pet food takes up 1/3 of our pantry space because they out-number the humans. I keep their dry foods in large cereal storage containers for easy pouring into their bowls while they nuzzle & push their heads into the dish. The wild tower of canned pet food is contained in a laundry basket under the counter.

  2. also, one thing I didn’t see on the above list (unless I missed it) is whole-cream milk powder. I use this completely instead of fresh milk that sours before we use it. with the powder, I make whai I need as I use it. No waste.

  3. I also keep white distilled vinegar, fish sauce, condensed sweetened milk, whole nutmeg, fresh whole vanilla and vanillia bean in a jar, rice noodles, and because of all the pollution in the oceans I use pink himalayan salt.
