This past Thursday was Valentine’s day as most of you are aware. I have never particularly loved Valentine’s day, it’s too commercial now days. I don’t want someone (AKA the hubs) to feel pressure to get a gift, b/c then it’s just given with a “have to do” attitude. I also don’t think we need one day out of the year to celebrate your love for your significant other, that should be happening all year round. I would prefer to be surprised with flowers or a nice dinner at a small hole in the wall restaurant on a day that’s not valentine’s day–just a regular day. We were talking the other day at dinner about this and decided that we are starting a new tradition…we’ll we’re actually stealing this from someone else (Brandi’s blog). So what we’re going to do from now on is just go eat somewhere, or at home…nothing fancy smancy and then go to Target. We will have $20 to spend on the other person in 20 minutes. You never know what you’ll end up with at Target….it could be 20 bags of skittles or 2 T-shirts or socks…who knows, that’s what makes it fun….and it’s Target so who wouldn’t like it. The pressure is just narrowed down to 20 minutes instead of like 2 weeks of thinking of what to do and what to get them blah blah blah. Don’t get me wrong I do love flowers and receiving flowers is awesome….but I can get those any day of the year 😉 hint hint!!
All in all, this valentine’s day was great–we went to eat some dinner and then came home and spent the evening with each other – and that’s all that matters.

what’s going on?
I know, I know, I haven’t blogged since January 28th….that’s a while ago. I’ve had a few things to blog about but I just never felt like sitting down to write them. So this is a run down of what’s been going on the last few weeks.
Started school, as a full time student, while working full time–no fun. I’ve been going back and forth with the registrars office at Midwestern about my art credit–which made me a full time student if I wanted to graduate on time. Basically they said I should just wait to graduate in August…WHEN IT WAS THERE FAULT that my credit didn’t transfer!!! O’well, what else can I do.
About a week ago Jonathan and I traded in my Xterra for a chevy HHR, which gets way better gas mileage than my xterra ever thought of getting. I loved the Xterra but not filling it up every 4 days or so from driving to and from Dallas everyday. The best part–IT’S ORAGNE–I know, most people wouldn’t think of getting an orange car, I love it…can’t explain why but I do. I’ve always loved the color orange, it’s just a happy color. You can’t help but get in a good mood when you see my car, it’s cute and orange! So here’s the new ride:
Last Saturday we had some friends over to our house for a chinese themed dinner and played a few games–always fun. Sorry, no pictures of that…can you believe it, I didn’t take one picture the whole night–until after everyone went home and I took a photo of some chocolate covered fortune cookies. Delicious.
This week has just been a typical week, busy with work, school, small group, and trying to maintain some sort of sanity. This week was pretty busy at work and then I decided I’d better actually do some studying for school so I did that:
Thursday I had to go to PALS renewal (pediatric advanced life support) which is just mentally exhausting. But we had to find some way to keep it interesting so why not just take pictures of the dummies we use:
Thursday was Valentine’s day but more on that later on.
Friday night Jonathan and I decided to go to Red Robin for dinner and then run over to half price books–always hun. I’ve only been to red robin once before and it was pretty good…I got chicken strips before and wasn’t too impressed but this time I got a hamburger and it was really really good. I got the royal red robin burger and it was very tasty and unique. It had a fried egg on top of the burger with bacon strips and the usuals….yummy! You should try it sometime. Like I wouldn’t take a picture of something at Red Robin:
Today (Saturday) was a typical Saturday of running around and getting things done. I woke up this morning and posted stuff for my government class and then I went to be the “photographer” for a friends baby shower. I’ve never though of myself as a photographer, I just like to take pictures…but I was honored they asked me to do it. Then as it was pouring I stopped by the store to pick up some things to make chicken spaghetti for dinner tonight. Then I got home and took exam 1 for my art course–got an A so that’s good. Exam 2 will probably be tomorrow…fun fun fun! OKay, off to finish dinner!
Fire
Isn’t that a cool screen! I really like the diamond shapes in it–it’s pretty much awesome.
It’s been cold the last few days, I’m not gonna lie. I like it cold but I also like to be warm. A couple of weeks ago we went to Target to get a fireplace screen for our fireplace because we found one there we really liked and it was, in a way, part of our Christmas gift from Jonathan’s parents. Anyway, we went to get it and they were sold out of all the screens and everything that had to do with a fireplace was on clearance. So we figured we’d just have to wait until next year to get one and I’m not about to have a fire without a screen so –no fire this year. Well today I went just to look around–Target always gets me in a good mood! Guess what I saw..not only were the screens on clearance, but they had 1, ONE, screen left like the one we wanted…so I called Jonathan and we got it. So tonight we came home and had our first fire in our new house. It was great but I made sure it was all out before we go to bed! I am tremendously afraid of fire…traumatic experience when I was a kid…well, not that bad, but enough to scar me for life. The part I really hate about having a fire is the cleaning up afterwards…I don’t like all the ashes to sit in the fireplace because after a while it starts to stink and well, it’s just not pretty–but, it was great, fun, nice to look at and maybe we’ll have another one tomorrow night!
Casa de Blundell
It’s always interesting here at Casa de Blundell. You never know what we’ll do next. Last night was very cold outside and we had nothing to do so we decided to play miniature golf in the house! Okay so it was Jonathan’s idea to play it. He set up a 9 hole course where we had to go under tables, chairs, through shoes and bounce off lunch coolers. It was fun and we tied both rounds. Okay so technically he won the second round but we’ll just say we tied 😉 All in all it was pretty fun and who knows what we’ll do next, maybe bowling in the hallway! you can view all the pictures on our flickr pages.
new look –2
okay I revised the 2nd design –just different colors so let me know which of the three designs you like. The second picture here is what each page would look like when you opened up a page. For example: when you hit the “About Us” button on the page it would open this one. (keep in mind the buttons don’t work yet and there is nothing loaded yet)
new look
Casa de Blundell is going to get a new look. Jonathan and I are in the process of re-doing the website and will hopefully update it more often. I have designed two different possible looks for the site and we need your help. Which of these 2 designs do you like the best? Keep in mind that the first design will also have our picture on there if we actually use it as the main page. Click on the thumbnail and it will bring up a bigger picture.

MEMPHIS
Jonathan and I decided to take a trip to Memphis, TN in March and I can’t wait. It’s always nice just to get away for a while and leave everything behind—AKA Work! Today I booked our hotel so it’s official, we’re going! It’s about 10 miles from Graceland–GRACELAND. The home of Elvis Presley!!!! And on a side note- for those of you who might not know–It’s Elvis’ birthday today. The king is/was/would be another year older. Happy Birthday Elvis! Well, back to where I was-We’re gonna get to take a tour of Graceland –I’m soo excited. We’ll also, hopefully, get to enjoy some great Jazz music at some jazz clubs and visit sun studios and the infamous Beale street. It’s going to be hard to wait for the next 2 months! We have really wanted to go to Scotland this summer but I think this trip is more in our budget right now! Maybe Scotland next year. Memphis here we come–in 2 months.
I Rock!!!
Jonathan and I have been on a search for a Wii gaming system so we could get Guitar Hero and be rock stars! Well we’ve had no luck–we almost had one on Wednesday but someone else decided they needed the one that was up at customer service for us, so no such luck. Last night we just decided to get a sony playstation 2 instead, they have just as many games that we would play anyway. So we got the PS2 that came with sing along rock star or whatever–its like a karaoke machine basically. But we also got Guitar Hero III and played it for a good while last night. It’s hard to get the hang of it at first but then I figured it out and Rocked Out!!! It is soo much fun.
Now we just need to get another guitar so we can have duals and play eachother!
Christmas Wrap-Up
Okay so it wasn’t the BEST Christmas ever—Now let me explain this. I woke up Saturday morning with a migraine and all that entails–yes, even bowing before the porcelain god. Eventually about 3:00 I started feeling better and Jonathan and I went to finish up some last minute Christmas shopping. Sunday we went to church and had a great service. Our friend Mary led worship and sang beautifully, as usual, and the Encounter band played the infamous Christmas Eve Seriavo. After church Jonathan and I decided to try this mexican food restaraunt that we’d been wanting to go to for a while. This is where it went downhill. We went to Amaya’s–yes I’m saying the name of the restaraunt so no one will ever go there–Amaya’s in Red Oak!! STAY AWAY. Anyway, we ate lunch and the food wasn’t anything to write home about, it was okay but not great. I just had two beef tacos and Jonathan had a beef enchilada. Well, we went home and I finished wrapping the Christmas gifts and got ready to go to his grandparents for Christmas with his family. On our way there I started feeling a little queasy and not right so we stopped and got some tums. They didn’t help–at this point Jonathan wasn’t feeling that well either. A couple of hours went by and I couldn’t take it anymore, I told him we had to go, which I felt horrible because I didn’t want to make him leave…we don’t get to see his cousins that often. Well, it’s a good thing we left because it was over when we got home. I was sick all night and then had to get up and go to work the next day. I finally stopped getting sick but I was VERY dehydrated and my blood pressure was extremely low which made work pretty difficult. I came straight home from work and went back to bed. The rest of the day (which was Christmas Eve) was just worthless, Jonathan and I were both dehydrated and worn out. Let me tell you, Pedialyte isn’t just for kids anymore….We spent our Christmas Eve on the couch drinking Pedialyte–Yippee! We were supposed to go to our parents church for the Christmas Eve service and then maybe stop by my aunts house to see my cousins and their kids. Well, that didn’t happen. Then Christmas day, my family was supposed to all come over but that wasn’t going to happen because I was about to clean the house–I could barely stand without feeling like I was going to pass out. So Christmas morning we woke up and felt better but still a little worn out and dehydrated. We opened our gifts from eachother and then went to Jonathan’s sisters house for breakfast with his family. We had a good time and then went to my parents house for lunch with my family. We had a good Christmas but probably would have enjoyed it better if we felt better. Maybe we’ll have a good New Year’s!
We’re Even!
A while back I wrote a post about Jonathan doing the laundry and how I asked him kindly to never to the laundry again because I ended up with a pink shirt that was white and another shirt that had a blue tint to it. I had to explain that women’s clothing is different than men’s clothing and you can’t wash some of them the same. I thought we had an understanding. He has been trying to do more around the house to help me out even though I tell him he doesn’t need to b/c I can still do it. I know he was just trying to help and he didn’t malliciously do laundry to ruin clothes. He did laundry last night for me, and I do appreciate his help, but what he didn’t realize is that I had some jeans in there I just got and hadn’t been washed yet. These jeans needed to be washed by themselves because they will bleed and they also needed to be laid flat to dry because they will shrink. Anyway, I didn’ tknow what he washed last night, I was thinking it was the whites because you really can’t screw them up unless you put a red sock mixed in. well this morning I stuck my scrubs in the dryer to iron them-ha-and when I opened the door I saw these jeans and then saw my favorite white sweater. I pulled the sweater out and it is now a light gray-blue color along with some other white shirts I have. And for the jeans, they are now too small to wear…so the new jeans I have never worn will never be worn.
But to be fair I went out and mowed the backyard and a good part of the front yard yesterday when I got home after he told me to rest and not do anything. I think he was a little mad when I told him and I feel bad for that. I know he worries about me but at the same time I know my limitations and because I felt bad to begin with doing certain things doesn’t necessarily make it worse. I’d feel bad either way and I might as well get stuff done that needs it. But I will admit I probably shouldn’t have mowed the yard because it did wear me out and I didn’t feel great afterwards. So that being said we are even, he did the laundry and I mowed the yard.
