Well this will likely be my final set of notes from The Idea Camp DC :-(. Even missing a couple sessions the weekend un-conference was pure greatness in my mind. Lots of things to chew on and “take home.”
So without further ado – here are my notes from the closing session ::
Closing Session – Abandon Films, Scott Hancock (Glue Network), Larry Martin (IJM), Jonathan Olinger (Discover the Journey), Greg Russinger (JustOne), Nicky Yates (charity: water), Gregg Helvey (Kavi the movie)
there are greater things yet to come and greater things are still to be done in OUR city!!
RT @gregrussinger: @just4one going live shortly at ideacamp #icdc watch the live stream
“im a husband – that’s quite creative in and of itself.” – @gregrussinger
“i love to create – to care for others” @gregrussinger
justone was created by living with those who are living on the margins – @gregrussinger
i wonder what we could created by living with those on the margins?
15,000 – 20,000 people cared for each month through Laundry Love initiatives – @gregrussinger
build an economy of enough where we all participate in sharing of resources – @gregrussinger
Greg and Charles Lee (@charlestlee) don’t take credit for JustOne. They say the entire idea came from others:
the ones we come in contact are the ones that created JustOne and gave the spark for the initiative of JustOne – @gregrussinger
“i learn more about my humanity when i share with others” – @gregrussinger
“listening is key to the creative process” – @gregrussinger
“pain and suffering brings us to the point of needing grace… allow yourself to sit in the midst of suffering.” – @gregrussinger
“the cross was only shown in scripture for 3 hrs but the table was shown for 3 yrs… the table welcomes all.” @gregrussinger
RT @michaelharrison: The table was 3 yrs in scripture & symbol where all came together. 2/2 — Greg Russinger
(this was such a powerful image for me. we base our faith around the cross (not a bad thing) – yet the majority of Jesus’ ministry was based around the table – sharing life with people – putting aside all that divides us. we need more tables in our communities. we need more breaking of the bread)
RT @thomaseward: Was it the 4 friends who brought the paralytic 2 Jesus or was it him who-in his brokenness-brought his 4 friends?
will you return after offering care? @gregrussinger
me: #q-icdc can you expound on “the economy of enough”
Economy of Enough :: redistributing our wealth to build a new economy – sharing – Luke 3:11 @gregrussinger
a closing thought:
“stop human warming!” @gregrussinger #icdc // ha
RT @decart Remember God sets us up for good things. Live in a stance of humility and wonder at what God does. — @gregrussinger
just saw the trailer for http://discoverthejourney.org/ you can too…
RT @ChrisMarlow: Maybe the best 15 minutes of @theideacamp came from a janitor (@gregrussinger). This is why I love being here.
“children always take the brunt of injustice” jonathan from discoverthejourney.org
charity:water offers a story of hope so no one is overburdened – @nickyyates
several folks asked about production values and making slick sexy videos to tell stories… my response: @billkcummings im a huge fan of raw stories – just get a Flip Camera and share on Youtube like @hardlynormal plus look at the something beautiful podcast – granted its not big time but its just raw audio of people telling their story.
“if the story is powerful you don’t need sexy production”
“remember why you connected to a story originally and then exploit it – then impart it to others”
“you may tell a story 50 times but it may take that many times for it to click” @charlestlee
“stop asking God to bless what you’re doing – get involved in what God is doing – its already blessed” – Bono // still greatness
“God loves the people he made and he doesn’t want them to suffer” – Larry Martin of IJM
“be on the lookout for people in need” – Larry Martin
“encourage one another” – Larry Martin
“be willing to work hard” – Larry Martin
“be willing to pay the price” – Larry Martin
be on the lookout for need. encourage. work hard. willing to pay the price. then hand it off to Jesus. – Larry Martin

And if you’re interested, you can see all the Twitpic photos from Idea Camp
