Makes me proud

robgt2 :: @aaronaiken If I was you I’d create a ‘Where You Are Now’ online brand like the @sbpodcast one

I’m not sure what all Rob’s referring to as “our brand” but I’m glad others would consider it worthy of imitating. I hope it continues to be a great brand “people can follow as we follow Jesus” and share his story with others.

Thanks Rob. Your tweet made me proud.

Tall Skinny Kiwi visits something beautiful

jones-224x300

Awesome guest this week on our podcast – in fact one of the first folks on our “Wish List” when we started the podcast – Tall Skinny Kiwi aka Andrew Jones.

I had a great chat with Andrew right before the New Year and we shared it this week for our listeners.

Andrew has been recognized by many as one of the top Christian/Church bloggers, but he describes himself as ::

I
Me
Dad
Man
Pilgrim
Blogger
Husband
Crepe Chef
Video Jockey
Jesus Follower
Badminton Player
Director of Boaz Project
Medium Format Photographer
Missional Cell Developer for CMS

And Andrew had this to say about the podcast ::

…the podcast, which is hosted and commented on by some really wonderful people with interesting accents, I talk about my training, early mission experience, fundamentalist background as a street evangelist, the side-benefits of Bible smuggling, tinkering around with the early emerging church in the 80’s and 90’s, and I fess up to my particular heresies.

He had some great stories and great ideas that I’ve been chewing on since we chatted.

Like, “want to start a church — keep the Christians out” and “the biblical example of church is the church moving out and initiating from their house and not our house” and “follow us as we follow Christ.”

I don’t want to steal his thunder but its GOOOOD. So take an hour or so and get to know Andrew a bit better and then let us know what you think.

something beautiful season 2

Are you subscribed to the something beautiful podcast?

If not, you may have missed some good shows in season 2 (2009).

01.02.09 something beautiful :: 2.1 :: musical interlude
01.08.09 something beautiful :: 2.2 :: steve knight
01.15.09 something beautiful :: 2.3 :: the young guns

We already have several shows in the can, just awaiting to be added to your Mp3 player of choice. Coming soon… Aaron Aiken, Tall Skinny Kiwi, The Vanderburgs pt 2, Mark Horvath and Max Fincher. And we’re just getting started!

BTW, Steve Knight is hoping to set a new record for the most downloads on our podcast – he’s about 25 downloads away (I think his mom has downloaded the show 73 times or so :-). But, the Young Guns are closing in on the record as well – they’re only 10 downloads behind Steve. So, listen to the shows, pass them along to your friends and family and we’ll see if either episode can break a new record.

So be sure and drop by and listen to the latest shows, or subscribe in your favorite podcast/RSS reader or in iTunes.

cardio

So I usually feel decent about my cardio abilities — at least when it comes to walking or riding my bike. Last night I decided I’d try 5 to 10 minutes of jumping rope to get some exercise going.

Let me just say — I am out of shape — and I have no rhythm.

I was super winded when I finished and I was unable to jump rope more than 24 times in a row. There was a lot of restarting and getting to 10-15 before the rope hit my head or one of my feet. Geeze.

But I’ll keep pushing on. Maybe I’ll get up to 26 jumps in a row before all this is over!

Don’t look happy about it but I lost 3.6 lbs this week. Good for a week I spose, so far I’ve been working on watching what I’m eating — need to add some activity in there somewhere.

So, here are the stats.

This week — 3.6 lbs

Net weight loss since starting the challenge with Thomas on Oct. 10, 2008 — 2.8 lbs.
