Amos is home

Some of you may recall the story of Amos and Aaron and Jamie Ivey last year.

Aaron and Jamie were in the process of adopting Amos from Haiti when last year’s horrific earthquake hit.

It was a trying week or so, but the family was finally re-united and able to bring Amos home for good only a “short” time after the earthquake.

Just five days after the earthquake, the video to Amos’ song was released…

And now a short (5 minute) documentary about the family being reunited has also been released and is available for downloading and viewing with your friends, family and faith community.

It’s a beautiful story and a beautiful companion video as well.

Check it out, share it with your friends and consider how God might be calling you to make a difference in the life of an orphan somewhere in the world.

Welcome to February

February 2010 wall calendar ~ happy valentine's day ~

Welcome to February!

Well, not quite I suppose — depending on when you read this.

But a few things to look forward to this month:

  • It’s Black History Month & the DCCCD African American Read-In
  • My sister Kara turns 25
  • Valentines Day
  • I turn 31
  • We’re scheduled to close on our new house in Forney at the end of the month…. YIKES! We still need a solid contract on our house!!!!

And a few things to look back on — aka the top posts from January 2010.

Honorable mention:
Top songs of 2009 – This was actually one of the top 5 viewed posts for the month, but it didn’t make the official list since I wrote it on Dec. 29, 2009 — it’s sooo last year 🙂

Did you miss any of those? Were there other favorites that didn’t make the list?

What would you like to see more of?

Here’s to more great conversations in 2010!

Orphans and the tragedy in Haiti

Earlier this week I shared a Tweet from a friend in Austin:

PRAYER: RT @eloranicole @tiffsoutherland: friend who was adopting from Haiti-met child-going this week 2 get her-found out child was killed

It was a hard Tweet to read (and share).

Essentially, this friend of a friend of a friend were in the process of adopting a little girl from Haiti. They were set to go to Haiti this week and pick her up – but discovered the girl had died in the earthquake.
