Shopping with a girl

So who knew you’re supposed to get extra dressed up for an evening wedding? Yeah. Not me either.
But apparently you do and apparently I don’t have anything that falls into that category.
I do have a black suit jacket, but the back of the pants were ripped at a CWF show a while back. I’ve worn it with another pair of slacks as well, but honestly I don’t know what happened to them.
So tonight Laurie and I are going to a wedding and I think it hit her mid-week that I didn’t have anything to wear to this fancy evening wedding.
We’ve been to one other wedding together and I thought what I wore was nice…

Oops wrong photo.

But the pants I’m wearing in that photo are just a bit too faded now. So the Dockers are out.
Anyways, Laurie went on her own and bought me several new shirts out of the blue on Wednesday as well as some new jeans and slacks. She’s awesome.
But while I can wear 36-34 in jeans, 36-34 in slacks tends to be another story. I can’t even button them.
So last night we went back and returned the slacks and went to Kohls to look for some new ones.
Apparently I know nothing about color coordination because I was ready to just buy a new pair of black slacks to go with the navy blue/baby blue stripped shirt. Apparently that’s a no-no.
You also can’t wear navy blue with brown slacks. To be honest, I’m not sure why stores sell navy blue anything because it doesn’t go with anything. Oh well.
Luckily my life is pretty good at keeping up with What Not to Wear so after a good deal of searching and a couple different attempts, we found the perfect outfit that we both liked.
I told my mom it’s a good thing I’m married, because I probably would have shown up at the wedding in Dockers and a polo shirt if not jeans and a polo shirt.
Granted, I also probably wouldn’t be going to the wedding if I wasn’t married either ;-).
I love you baby. Thanks for being patient with my ignorance.
Oh and for Laurie’s take on the shopping experience, be sure and read her blog.
And we’re going camping after the wedding tonight – so pray for NO rain. Thanks.
