Protestors and police have been clashing for days now in Ukraine and in the middle of the classes, priest from the Orthodox Church and other faiths have stood in the gap for their country – praying for peace.
What a powerful image and example of the hands and feet of Jesus.
These are the examples we all need to see.
The New York Times has more on the situation.
Johnny Laird shared a great article today on the practice of Christian meditation.
A few things stood out but this thought in particular:
“…the Christian ideal of ‘Church’ is not the empty, justifiably fading social institution he’d thought, but an ongoing — albeit often tragically wayward — attempt to build a counter-cultural community.”
It takes me back to Rodney Clapp’s “Peculiar People” and Brian McClaren’s “Everything Must Change” among others – a group of people refusing to bow to the emperors of the day who offer a true alternative that really is life giving.
Pro-tip: don’t take the double car strollers at the store unless you have two or more kids needing a buggy.
