This past Sunday I shared a video with my Sunday school class about a father and son caught in a rain storm.
\nThe father told the story of a hike he took with his young 16-month old son riding in a pack on his back.
\nAs they neared the half-way-point of the hike the skies opened up and a soaking rain poured down on them.
\nThe father mentioned that for his son, the storm became his reality.
\nHe knew nothing else \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and it scared him.
\nHow often do storms in our life become our reality?
\nHow often do we feel like there is nothing else left but the soaking rain that is drenching us at that very moment?
\nI\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been in that situation too many times.
\nIt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s easy to get caught up in the moment and forget that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153This too will pass.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\nIt\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s easy to think all hope is lost.
\nThink about Jesus\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 disciples on the Sea of Galilee. They were certain of their pending death.
\nBut luckily they remembered who was sound asleep in the boat with them.
\nThe same man who said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Cry out to me and I will hear your cry and will answer you,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was laying in the boat with them.
\nSo what did they do? The only thing left for them to do. They cried out to Jesus.
\nAnd like any other time people cry out to Jesus \u00e2\u20ac\u201c He hears and responds.
\nHe calms the storm. He protects us from the waves and holds us close.
\nThe father in the story said that as his son screamed in stereo, he pulled his son off of his back and held him close in his arms.
\nHe leaned over as he held him and whispered to him, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I love you buddy. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s OK. We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re gonna make it. I know the way home.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d
\nHe continued holding his son and whispering the same thing to him as they continued the on the way home.
\nWhatever your cry is, Jesus is reaching out and saying, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I love you buddy. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s OK. We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re gonna make it. I know the way home.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
