Tim and\/or Rebecca (probably the former :-)) share this on their family blog<\/a> today. I think its a fitting prayer for me right now.<\/p>\n

The prayer comes from John Piper<\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s book Taste and See<\/em><\/p>\n

O Lord, by the truth of your Word, and the power of your Spirit and the ministry of your body, build us into people . . .<\/p>\n

Who don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t love the world more than God,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care if they make much money,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care if they own a house,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care if they have a new car or two cars,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need recent styles,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care if they get famous,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t miss steak or fancy fare,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t expect that life should be comfortable and easy,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t feed their minds on TV each night,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t measure truth with their finger in the wind,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get paralyzed by others\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 disapproval,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t return evil for evil,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t hold grudges,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t gossip,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t twist the truth,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t brag or boast,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t whine or use body language to get pity,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t criticize more than praise,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t hang out in cliques,
\nwho don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t eat too much or exercise too little;<\/p>\n

But
\nwho are ablaze for God,
\nwho are utterly God-besotted,
\nwho are filled with the Holy Spirit,
\nwho strive to know the height and depth of Christ\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s love,
\nwho are crucified to the world and dead to sin,
\nwho are purified by the Word and addicted to righteousness,
\nwho are mighty in memorizing and using the Scriptures,
\nwho keep the Lord\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Day holy and refreshing,
\nwho are broken by the consciousness of sin,
\nwho are thrilled by the wonder of free grace,
\nwho are stunned into humble silence by the riches of God\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s glory,
\nwho are persevering constantly in prayer,
\nwho are ruthless in self-denial,
\nwho are fearless in public witness to Christ\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Lordship,
\nwho are able to unmask error and blow away doctrinal haze,
\nwho are tough in standing for the truth,
\nwho are tender in touching hurting people,
\nwho are passionate about reaching the peoples who have no church,
\nwho are pro-life for the sake of babies and moms and dads and the glory of God,
\nwho are keepers of all their promises, including marriage vows,
\nwho are content with what they have and trusting the promises of God,
\nwho are patient and kind and meek when life is hard.<\/p>\n

reminds me of this litany from Shane Claiborne<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
