Laurie’s got a quick recap of our Memphis trip<\/a> on her blog for everyone. I microblogged (Twittered<\/a>) much of the trip but I figured I’d give everyone a quick recap here as well.<\/p>\n

a – we left early Thursday morning
\nb – stopped and grabbed a pic near the Texas\/Arkansas border
\nc – found a Geocache<\/a> at a rest stop where we ate lunch
\nd – stopped in Arkadelphia to fill up and found out they don’t like loud music<\/a>
\ne – drove from there to Memphis
\nf – arrived at the hotel around 4ish and then headed downtown to Beale St<\/a>
\ng – ended up at an Irish pub for dinner
\nh – stopped at the Lorraine Motel<\/a> and took photos of the place where Dr. Martin Luther King was gunned down April 4, 1968<\/a>
\ni – took some night pictures of the Mississippi<\/a>
\nj – woke up Friday morning and headed to Graceland<\/a>, home of Elvis Presley
\nk – it was well worth the visit but they have turned that area into a money making tourist trap for Elvis Presley Enterprises
\nl – signed our name<\/a> to the fence outside Graceland
\nm – ate lunch back at the hotel and then headed to Sun Studios where Elvis recorded his first single<\/a> and U2 recorded several songs while filming and recording Rattle and Hum<\/a>
\nn – found another geocache along the banks of the Mississippi River<\/a>
\no – enjoyed a nap and then had dinner at Chick-fil-A
\np – woke up the next morning and headed back to Graceland to grab a Sun Studio hat — funny that the Sun Studio hat I wanted was at Graceland and the Elvis keychain Laurie wanted was at a store near Graceland, not at Graceland
\nq – drove 4 or 5 miles south to Mississippi and found our first geocache in Mississippi
\nr – headed back to downtown Memphis and toured the Gibson Guitar Factory<\/a> — before arriving Laurie suggested maybe we should buy me another guitar while we were there. i was all for that (and still am) but figured she didn’t realize how expensive Gibson Guitars really are<\/a>. besides knowing how great the look and sound – after seeing how they make their guitars by hand we both understand why they’re so expensive.
\ns – found some great Memphis BBQ at Corky’s<\/a> on the east side of Memphis. Laurie says it tops her favorite, Red, Hot & Blue<\/a>. i may have to agree but i don’t know if any BBQ tops the great BBQ at Cyclone Corral BBQ<\/a> outside Temple, Texas.
\nt – made a random stop at Target and bought Elvis’ 30 #1 hits — another random Elvis purchase away from Graceland ($9 compared to $22)
\nu – headed back to Dallas Sunday morning
\nv – stopped along the way for another geocache in Arkansas and dropped off a travel bug<\/a> and grabbed a new one – didn’t realize till we were back home that the travel bug we grabbed was actually on it’s way to Memphis and not away from it – DOH!
\nw – stopped in Sulphur Springs to see family and to see Bryan and Amanda’s new house
\nx – it’s very Oyler-esque – all the way to Bryan’s collection of John Deere collectible tractors
\ny – ate dinner at Snuffers in Rockwall – mmm Snuffers
\nz – arrived back home around 9 after picking Presley up from Laurie’s parents<\/p>\n
