{"id":2856,"date":"2007-08-31T06:41:17","date_gmt":"2007-08-31T12:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.casadeblundell.com\/jonathan\/?p=2856"},"modified":"2007-08-31T06:41:17","modified_gmt":"2007-08-31T12:41:17","slug":"this-day-in-history-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/casadeblundell.com\/jonathan\/this-day-in-history-2\/","title":{"rendered":"This day in history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>1888:<br \/>\n   <strong>Mary Ann Nichols&#8217;<\/strong> body was found on the ground in front of a gated stable entrance in Buck&#8217;s Row, London, allegedly the first victim of the unidentified serial killer known as <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jack_the_Ripper\">Jack the Ripper<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>1997:<br \/>\n   <strong>Princess Diana<\/strong>, her companion <strong>Dodi Fayed<\/strong>, and their driver <strong>Henri Paul<\/strong> were <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Death_of_Diana%2C_Princess_of_Wales\">killed in a high speed car accident<\/a> in the Pont de l&#8217;Alma road tunnel in Paris.<\/p>\n<p>I think we can be pretty certain no one was around for the first, but what do you remember about Princess Di&#8217;s death? I remember hearing about it late on a Saturday night while at my friend <strong>Brandon&#8217;s<\/strong> house in Kaufman, TX. I was shocked but I&#8217;m not sure why. It wasn&#8217;t like she had a huge impact on my life somehow. Maybe it was just the shock of a celebrity death. I also remember getting up at 2 or 3 a.m. to watch her funeral live. Somehow I just thought it was a big deal. What about you?
