{"id":2670,"date":"2007-07-19T07:19:31","date_gmt":"2007-07-19T13:19:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.casadeblundell.com\/jonathan\/?p=2670"},"modified":"2007-07-19T07:19:31","modified_gmt":"2007-07-19T13:19:31","slug":"waxahachies-master-plan-nearing-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/casadeblundell.com\/jonathan\/waxahachies-master-plan-nearing-end\/","title":{"rendered":"Waxahachie&#8217;s master plan nearing end"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Waxahachie master plan &#8211; which I do believe was near completion when I started working at the WDL back in November of 2005 &#8211; is nearing completion.<br \/>\nAccording to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailylight.com\/articles\/2007\/07\/19\/dailylight\/news\/02-07-18-city.txt\">Anthony&#8217;s story over at the WDL<\/a>, the plan will \u00e2\u20ac\u0153hopefully\u00e2\u20ac\u009d be submitted to the city council for formal adoption within the next one to two months.<br \/>\nThe plan will lead the city over the next 20 years, when the city&#8217;s population is expected to rise from 27,000 to over 44,000.<br \/>\nParticipants who took part in the Master Plan survey said they were in favor of:<br \/>\nOverall, the survey\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s participants were supportive of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Decorative entryways to the city<\/li>\n<li> Landscaping<\/li>\n<li> Brick and stone exteriors<\/li>\n<li> Open space in relation to development<\/li>\n<li> Public spaces<\/li>\n<li> Retail pedestrian gathering space<\/li>\n<li> Pedestrian-oriented, well-designed retail businesses<\/li>\n<li> The integration of sidewalks with amenities such as brick, lighting and trees into developments<\/li>\n<li> Monument-style (shorter signs consisting of masonry construction) signage for buildings and businesses<\/li>\n<li> Historically-styled homes with porches and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153interesting architecture\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/li>\n<li> Streets designed with landscaping, lighting, trees and landscaped medians<\/li>\n<li> Traditionally-designed townhomes<\/li>\n<li> Transit solutions such as trolleys and commuter rail<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You know I&#8217;m in favor of that last one &#8211; as well as the rest.<br \/>\nIt will be interesting and exciting to see how it all plays out in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Waxahachie master plan &#8211; which I do believe was near completion when I started working at the WDL back in November of 2005 &#8211; is nearing completion.
