{"id":2455,"date":"2007-05-28T17:52:09","date_gmt":"2007-05-28T23:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.casadeblundell.com\/jonathan\/?p=2455"},"modified":"2013-06-11T07:31:32","modified_gmt":"2013-06-11T13:31:32","slug":"memorial-day-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/casadeblundell.com\/jonathan\/memorial-day-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Memorial Day events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well its been a nice relaxing Memorial Day around Casa de Blundell.<br \/>\nI do believe this is the first time <strong>Laurie<\/strong> and I have had the holiday off since we finished school.<br \/>\nWe slept in till around 10ish.<br \/>\nLazied around the house till around 1ish, watching the &#8220;<span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/tlc.discovery.com\/fansites\/lpbw\/lpbw.html?dcitc=w99-504-ah-0075\">Little People, Big World<\/span>&#8221; marathon.<br \/>\nThen around 1 we made our way over to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ennis%2C_Texas\">Ennis<\/a> where Laurie&#8217;s great-grandparents and grandparents lived.<br \/>\nWe found the spot where her great-grandfather <strong>Charles Mosshart<\/strong> had his men&#8217;s clothing store.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s now a taxidermist and what looks like a variety\/antique\/women&#8217;s\/tourist trap store. Neither were open so we didn&#8217;t get to go in and have a look around. Outside there&#8217;s not much left of the Mosshart clothing store other than a large &#8220;M&#8221; that&#8217;s still carved in the stone above the doors of each store.<br \/>\n<span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/33065412@N00\/518892373\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/245\/518892373_2b98aa93ff.jpg?v=0\"><\/span><br \/>\nThe taxidermist left the M there and the women&#8217;s store had it painted over with bluebonnets.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/33065412@N00\/518865504\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/231\/518865504_8416a17215.jpg?v=0\" width=400><\/A><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/33065412@N00\/518867856\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/244\/518867856_72e5a2faf6.jpg?v=0\" width=400><\/A><br \/>\nAfter our stop in downtown Ennis we visited the Crape Myrtle cemetery where both her grandparents and great-grandparents are buried.<br \/>\nWe then made our way to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chickfila.com\">Chick-fil-A<\/a>. Mmmm. Always a good stop, anytime of day &#8211; especially when you haven&#8217;t been there in over a month (what&#8217;s going on!?).<br \/>\nWe wrapped up our errands with a trip to HEB to fill our weekly shopping list and then did a quick park-and-grab geocache by the local Boy Scout Cabin.<br \/>\nNow we&#8217;re back home, Presley&#8217;s cuddled up on her blanket next to Laurie and her iBook. I&#8217;m across the coffee table with my Gateway laptop and we&#8217;re settling in.<br \/>\nWe&#8217;re watching more of the &#8220;Little People, Big World&#8221; marathon that we TiVo&#8217;d. And before the night&#8217;s end I&#8217;m sure we&#8217;ll try out our bottle of homemade cream soda.<\/p>\n<p>*EDIT* &#8211; oh and yes&#8230;. it was our first one month anniversary \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well its been a nice relaxing Memorial Day around Casa de Blundell.
