In Africa, it is the leading cause of death &#8212; 5,500 Africans die each day from this insidious disease.<br \/>\nAccording to doctors at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, the hospital has seen over 5,000 patients with AIDS since their HIV Services program began in 2000.<br \/>\nSeventy-two patients were from Ellis County.<br \/>\nOne effort that is making a  difference is <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.joinred.com\/manifesto.asp\">(RED)<\/span>, a company founded this year by Bono and Bobby Shriver. A percentage of the profits from each (RED) product sold is  given to <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.joinred.com\/globalfund.asp\">The Global Fund<\/span>.
