{"id":1738,"date":"2006-11-08T10:31:00","date_gmt":"2006-11-08T16:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.casadeblundell.com\/jonathan\/?p=1738"},"modified":"2012-05-15T16:34:31","modified_gmt":"2012-05-15T22:34:31","slug":"perry-non-christians-going-to-hell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/casadeblundell.com\/jonathan\/perry-non-christians-going-to-hell\/","title":{"rendered":"Perry: Non Christians going to hell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It may be a mute point now that the election&#8217;s over and Perry won, but I&#8217;m still amazed at the hooplah the media (<a href=\"http:\/\/waxahachiedaily.blogspot.com\/2006\/11\/hell-and-politics.html\">including some at my own paper<\/A>) have made over <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"http:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sharedcontent\/dws\/txcn\/houston\/stories\/khou061106_jj_perrynonchristians.e5397d9.html\">Perry saying that &#8220;non-Christians are going to hell<\/span>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t that exactly what Scripture tells us?<\/p>\n<p>Why are politicians and celebrities slammed for having and talking about their Christian faith?<\/p>\n<p>Independent Kinky Friedman said, &#8220;He doesn&#8217;t think very differently than the Taliban, does he?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve thought about this several times since Sunday and I think it goes back to what the Apostle Paul said, &#8220;For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved it is the power of God.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As Christians we can&#8217;t expect the rest of the world to understand our beliefs or agree with them.<\/p>\n<p>When we start quoting scripture it means nothing to them. Which is why we must find other means to convey our morality and views on issues like abortion and same-sex marriage &#8212; besides quoting scripture.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting Leviticus to an unbeliever won&#8217;t sway their opinion.
