Johnny Laird shared a great article today on the practice of Christian meditation.<\/p>\n
A few things stood out but this thought in particular:<\/p>\n
“…the Christian ideal of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcChurch\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 is not the empty, justifiably fading social institution he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d thought, but an ongoing \u00e2\u20ac\u201d albeit often tragically wayward \u00e2\u20ac\u201d attempt to build a counter-cultural community.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
It takes me back to Rodney Clapp’s “Peculiar People” and Brian McClaren’s “Everything Must Change” among others – a group of people refusing to bow to the emperors of the day who offer a true alternative that really is life giving.<\/p>\n
