Jonathan once tried to show off in front of friends by jumping out of a tree with a rope tied to his back belt loop. The impressive “Superman” stunt only lasted a short time until the belt loop broke and he fell several feet and landed face first on the ground.
Laurie is the youngest child with two older brothers and Jonathan is the oldest with two younger sisters.
Jonathan proposed to Laurie exactly six months before their wedding day — on October 28.
Once, while playing soccer in high school, Laurie took off and ran full speed ahead towards the ball and being full of grace, she ended up tripping and falling face first into a brick wall…ouch.
Jonathan and Laurie were both active in Cubbies, Sparks and other AWANA groups growing up.
In High School, Jonathan and Laurie lived less than 10 miles apart.
Laurie worked at her first job for seven years. Jonathan worked seven different jobs before he graduated high school.
Jonathan graduated from college in six years. Laurie graduated with her first degree in three.
Laurie still enjoys snowboarding even after breaking her tailbone while doing so.
Laurie and Jonathan’s favorite meals involve beef and potatoes.
Jonathan’s passed out three times in his life. Laurie has passed out three times since they started dating.
Jonathan has been to Nigeria on a missions trip.
Laurie has been to Honduras and Mexico several times on missions trips.
They plan on going to Russia together within the next couple of years.
In high school, Laurie and her friends would often go to Chick-Fil-A in Mesquite every Wednesday night after church. But they were highly annoyed by a group of guys who happened to be there EVERY Wednesday night until closing.
In high school and college, Jonathan was to busy being annoying people at Chick-Fil-A in Mesquite every Wednesday night to notice any girls who might later become the love of his life.
