about us

We were married on April 28, 2007 and just sold our first home and bought our second home so we could move closer to family. We have always wanted to have a family but struggled for two years with infertility before finally finding out we were pregnant in early 2010. A month later we found out we were having TWINS! We are excited to welcome our two little boys home in October 2010!

Laurie (Laura) Janine Blundell

I was born on April 16, 1981 to Dan and Martha Turner. I have two wonderful brothers, Brian and Brad, who have given me many invaluable memories throughout life. Brad, who is married to Jennifer, has two beautiful children, Jake (9yrs) and Brooklyn (6yrs). Brian is engaged to Stephanie and they will be getting married in late January 2011. I graduated from Rowlett High School in 1999 and after graduation I stayed in the Dallas area for college. I graduated college with a degree in Respiratory Care and in August of 2002 I started working at Children’s Medical Center Dallas as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. I worked at Children’s for a little over 6 years. I loved working there but was ready for a change. While working at Children’s I was able to combine two things I absolutely love – Children and medicine. I have been working at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas for about a year and a half and love it there. I’m glad I made the switch and now work with adults.
When I met Jonathan I had one thing going through my mind — “Wow, is he tall!”. I mean 15 inches isn’t really that big of a height difference is it? On October 28, 2006 Jonathan suprised me and asked me to marry him. He had been planning and scheming with my family and best friend for 2 weeks. He was lucky, because I was on pain killers at that time or otherwise I would have picked up on every little thing they were planning. I honestly didn’t know he was proposing until he was actually on his knee in front of me! He opened up the little box and there was my grandmother’s wedding ring. Six months later, on April 28, 2007, I married my best friend, still thinking “Wow, is he tall!” but also thinking, “I’ve got to be the luckiest girl in the world”. Now 3 1/2 years later as we wait for our two little boys to come into in the world I’m still thinking that.

Jonathan Deryl Blundell

I was born on February 24, 1979 to Fred and Margie Blundell. I have two wonderful sisters, Amy and Kara. Amy went home to glory on March 21, 2005 and Kara married her high school sweetheart, Tim Ellcey, on Dec. 30, 2006. I graduated from Poteet High School in 1997 and then spent three years at Eastfield Community College in Mesquite and another three years at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas (Go Cru!). After graduating in 2003 with my BA in Mass Communications, I went to work as the editor of The Belton Journal and later the Harker Heights Evening Star. In November 2005 I went to work as a reporter for the Waxahachie Daily Light, where I worked until Feb 27, 2007. Then on March 1 2007, I began a new position working for Ellis County Pct. 3. My official title was Road Worker 6, but I’ve yet to work with any hot-mix or heavy machinery. I spent one day as a flagger for the road crew but my primary job was mapping the precinct with GPS, working on PR/website for the precinct and representing the commissioner at various events.
Most recently I accepted a position with the Dallas Community College District as a Curriculum Management Specialist in their admin building. My main role is to help track and publish the district’s catalog online.
Five jobs in four years, not too bad — right?
On top of my regular work schedule I also serve as Commissioner and Ring Announcer for the Christian Wrestling Federation and I’m very involved in our church, encounter, where I serve on the media team and head up the community groups ministry.
When I first met Laurie I had two things going through my mind. 1. “Oh my goodness she’s hot. I’ll never get a second date with this girl” and 2. “Wow. 5’2? is shorter than I imagined.” But despite our 15-inch difference in height, I’ve fallen madly in love with this amazing, beautiful, Godly woman who has completely stolen my heart. It’s almost hard to believe that I’m now married to my best friend and I continue to pledge my love and life to her now and always.
